- VERIFY BEFORE PURCHASE: This is the thin version 1.25 thick. If your old radiator is over 2 thick, stop this wont fit. Step 1 Measure thickness Grab a ruler. Your old radiator must be about 1.25 same as a cigarette's width.Step 2 Check the transmission fittings Look at the two metal lines that screw into the bottom of your radiator. They must be 1/2 (the larger size). If they look smaller, this won't hook up. Step 3 Look for a radiator cap If your old radiator has a twistoff cap on top this 2977 has no cap hole, so it won't work. This one is for cars that use a separate plastic overflow tank (no cap on the rad).
