  • Well made and worth the money.
Size: 10 Color: Brown Leather
The fit is right on as far as length goes. I usually wear and 10.5 or 11 U.S., and the 1000 Mile boots fit well at a 10 U.S. One thing to note is that I use Superfeet Green insoles with most of my shoes/boots but with those in the 1000 Mile, the midfoot was too tight. I switched the Superfeet Green with Superfeet Black insoles (made for dress shoes) and the fit was right. Break in time was minimal as far as high-end boots, about two weeks for me. If you're deciding between the Wolverine 1000 Mile boots and the Red Wing Blacksmith boots (I have these in both Black and Reddish Brown), it really comes down to one or two differences that may guide your decision. First, the 1000 Mile has a dress shoe sole as opposed to the Red Wing Blacksmith's work boot type sole. I like both and so I bought each. The second difference between the two boots is that the Red Wing has a sort of bulbous toe area. I didn't like the way it looked in the pictures but it looks much better in person. ... show more

  • Great boots, outstanding quality, consider sizing down 1/2 size
Size: 11.5 Color: Brown Leather
I have been looking for a pair of high quality boot, made in the U.S. or Europe, for months. Based on the style I was interested in, I had narrowed down my search to Wolverine 1000 Miles or Redwing Heritage. I opted for the Wolverines because I thought they looked slightly less like work boots (but don't get me wrong, Redwing makes a fine product too). Even buying as an open box Amazon Warehouse deal, the boots were the most expensive pair of shoes I've ever bought. They're worth every penny. The craftsmanship is incredible. I wear I size 12 in most shoes and when I buy a different size I generally size up to 13 v. down. Based on reviews, I went with an 11.5. I'm glad I did because the length is absolutely perfect and a 12 would have been too large. The toe box was a little tight on my pinky toes, but this was expected and nothing a $10 trip to the cobbler couldn't fix. When I went to pick them up, my cobbler told me that, earlier in the day, someone saw them on the counter and offered him $300 cash for them (alas, my cobbler told him, they weren't for sale). He also told me that, with proper care and diligent resoling, they'll last for years, which is exactly why I purchased them. Do yourself a favor, spend the money. The alternative is spending less now on a pair of boots you're probably going to throw away (and replace until you've spent as much as you would have on a well-made pair of long lasting boots). ... show more

  • which was perfect. I haven't broken them in yet but wanted ...
Size: 9.5 Color: Black Leather
The boots are really high quality. I took advice from other posts and ordered half a size down, which was perfect. I haven't broken them in yet but wanted to address any concerns that these boots are fake (as I feared due to other buyers' posts); they're not. I bought them from an Amazon-backed seller (JumpInStyle). As you will see from the pics, the boots were slightly different, however. The main difference between the pair was on the leather outsoles, and there was also a slight imperfection (indentations) on the side of one of the boot's toe area. Given that I was able to combine credit card points with seller's low price to purchase at around $190 total after tax (over $180 less than from Wolverine or authorized seller), I was more than willing to overlook the difference in the outsole and imperfection on one of the boots. That's the only reason I rate the product at four stars instead of 5. After reading that the main drawback to these boots is that the leather outsole can wear away quickly, I took them to my local cobbler for some very thin (1/16 inch) Vibram half soles for $25 total. I really liked the results because the thin half soles should protect the leather outsole while not bulking them up and taking away from the sleek profile. Since I really like the boots and hope they hold up after regular wear, I plan to update this review after six months. ... show more

  • True Quality Control is gone. Folks just keep sending sub-par products.
Size: 11.5 Color: Brown Leather
I am so sick and tired of poor quality control from almost everywhere you buy things. What happened to quality? What happened to giving a damn about what you're selling or sending customers? Can i once order a product and for it to be in just ok condition? Doesn't have to be perfect. That's all im asking, is an ok condition. So the insoles of the boots have these dried up stains all over the wolverine logo. Like someone spilled something and it dried up that way. I wiped it off, but what was that? Some dried up fluids from a previous return? Also, there is an odd white stain and white markings there as well. I don't know what that is or what it could be. I get it, these are all hand made so things like off center stitching and glue marks are expected. Imperfections in a hand made boot is totally fine, like leather variations and some scuffs, cuts, glue stains, and things. I am totally fine with all of this. But the worst thing for me is...the toe box. The toe box looks like a cap toe variant of this 1000 mile boot. I ordered the original brown 1000 mile boot with the leather sole. And im not saying that a cap toe version was delivered, no. What im saying is that the structure of the toe cap is such that the leather seemed too tight there on the outside of the toe box, thus, allowing for the inner toe cup to be protruding. And this leaves an embossed imprint of a cap toe. Makes these look like Red Wing Iron Ranger toe box. So odd. I've went around many different stores trying on various colors and sizes and never seen this before. Unless i am bugging and this is the way the toe box is supposed to look. But I've seen a good handful of YouTube reviews, and saw them in hand in stores a dozen times. Another return for me. And this is a beautiful looking boot so i am extremely disappointed. I mean before you send out the product...just give it a once over. 1 minute of your time. And then ask yourself, will the customer accept this. 9 out of 10 times the answer is, no. So money is wasted on all these unnecessary shipping costs. ... show more
