This is good with Tripod is an excellent choice for young astronomers. With its lightweight and portable design, it's easy to set up and use. The two included eyepieces provide a range of magnification options, and the 70mm aperture allows for clear and bright views of the moon and stars. The tripod is sturdy and provides a stable base for the telescope. Overall, this is a great starter telescope for kids interested in exploring the night sky. ... show more

  • Much Better than expected
Color: Blue
This Telescope was far better than expected, not only in quality, but a real teaching aid. Well packaged and each part secured in an additional plastic bag. It came with a huge chart of the Planets and the moon. Its instruction book also gave amazing information on the Physics and Mathematics of optics and how to use them. Great for Astronomy and daylight viewing. All of the objectives had caps, and also the front lense. The tripod was very stable. I especially liked the section on the care of the scope and its components, as well as warnings as to what you should never do. A terrific teaching aid all around, and a perfect price. ... show more

  • Great product for starters... and hours of fun with the kids.
Color: Blue
This was my first time purchasing a telescope. I wanted something simple and lightweight, and also powerful enough to observe the planetary bodies. The setup was suuuper fast - it worked right out of the box. The instructions were very simple and easy to understand (actually didn't even need them). First night, we could see Jupiter and its moons... it was very exciting for the whole family. We saw the rings on Saturn as well... amazing. The images were crisp. Can't wait for the moon to be visible in our area. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the barlow lense was missing, otherwise a 5-star product. ... show more

  • Editing comments for the budding astronomer:
Color: Blue
I had to rewrite. Previous comments too rosey. Photo, point and shoot tripod, not suitable for astronomy. Focuser tube unstable within its tube. Tripod height OK. I can add ballast below. Some of these issues explain the poor ratings from others. However, photo point-shoot and lock mounting is unsuitable even with addition of wheel grease. Comments pertaining to astronomy usage in a moving celestial situation only. Can put scope on old 60mm scope mount and use tape shims inside of focuser tube. Giftable for child, needs new mounting system for proper study of astronomy. IMHO. Was very easy to assemble. For my $85, it will be fine, you can by it for less on e-bay. For just a little more you can buy a fine 70mm f/10 from Orion telescopes. The ability to scan the heavens- pursuing the cosmos, requires a good mount with trunion bearings alti-azimuth, if possible. But, for kids first scope, its fine. If you are smart, you won't settle for a mish-mash of systems here. ... show more

  • Perfect no fuss telescope
Color: Blue
If you are looking for an easy first time telescope then this is a great little telescope. Some Pros: 1 no collimation needed on this type of telecope. This is a big bonus as its pretty much ready to use right out of the box and you don't need to know much about telescopes to start. 2 lightweight and suprisingly stable tripod construction 3. You can see most of the plnets and some moons pretty easily even with loads of light pollution nearby. Took maybe 10 minutes ro find both Jupiter and its moons and Saturn+rings. Cons: Tripod can be flimsy when fully extended but you probably want a chair for stargazing anyway. You wont see many details of most planets with this telescope. Its probably about 3 times more clear and stable than binoculars but you wont see Jupiter's red spot or other planetary features. Results. Way better than naked eye or binoculars good entry telescope or for kids. ... show more

  • Disappointed in product
Color: Blue
After reading multiple reviews of this product and others I decided to purchase this for my 6 year old son as his first telescope. Unfortunately the product didn't work as hoped and was so fuzzy we weren't able to see the moon or any stars on clear nights. While I knew it wouldn't be of the same quality as an expert one, I thought my son would be able to atleast be able to see some stars and the moon well enough to know what they were. ... show more
