It seems quite well made. I keep my Zwilling double signature knife set in this. They are all in sheaths before they go in the roll. I keep a steel stored with them as well. I have some other knives that are fine in the kitchen drawer however, these knives are mine period. I don't really care to share them with others who may be using knives to cook while they are visiting. I do the same thing with pans. I keep several pans on a rack in the garage for my own use. After having several pans ruined by high heat I just keep some to the side so I have them to use unscathed. It just makes sense. I wager most cooks have favorite tools and do something similar.

Quick note, this review is for the small "Genuine Leather Knife Roll Set *Small* Chef's Knife Case Holder Cutlery Sheath Carrying Case", which I actually no longer see on the page as being offered. The large case shown now is of a much nice design and quality I would say. The price difference was also quite noticeable, with the small coming in around $40 if I remember correctly. If the large shown above has "all the bells and whistles", this small absolutely does not. Don't get me wrong, it's still decent enough, but not nearly so as the large above. I think there are three key areas of difference, and that contrast will perhaps be the best way to review the item, until they might list it again in detail. Whereas the large with buckles, a defined three-fold construction and very defined pockets for knife handles, this small is really much more of a casual wrap. With regard to the pockets for the knife handles, well, the difference is akin to the difference in fit between boxers and briefs. The large holds the knives securely and quite nicely, in tightly formed sleeves, whereas the small is like throwing them into a loose drawer. I am not impressed by this at all. The style is also very different in the small, for again, whereas the large has a defined trifold flat layout, this small is more of a scroll, freeform design. Combined with the lack of defined pockets, it really leaves a lot of room for the knives to bang up against one another. In truth, I would not advise putting your knives into this without blade guards on them, if you have any care for the edges. The leather itself is also as "western worn", that opposed to what is found in the large, a much nicer and elegant, stately even appearance. Again, this is more style, and I wouldn't be surprised that many might rather prefer the less "flashy" leather of the small. It's the difference between a polished saddle taken right off of the shelf, and a well-worn saddle that has been weathered and broken in. Further, there are no frills with the small at all. Not an extra pocket to be found. The cover flap, which will fold down to cover the blades, is fairly thin and unremarkable. In truth, though nothing terrible, and in fact, again, if you like be subdued and to not stand out, this is right up your alley. Simple. Plain. A leather thong serves to secure the wrap and enclosure. No fancy, fangled clasps to be found here. This is the Cowboy Kent Rollins knife style compared to say, the Gorden Ramsey (No disrespect to either I hope and pray.) For me, I would have preferred to have somewhere in between these two to suit my style. I am not offended by the simplicity of the small, though I would have preferred a buckle to enclose it. I would absolutely have preferred more care have been taken with the inner slots for knife handles. As I unfold my roll, I should not have my knives banging into one another, and this will almost certainly be the case with this item. I'm between a 3 and 4 stars on this one. I'll start high, and if anything further is revealed, I'll return to update.

This knife roll set is perfect for my needs. I am particular about and partial to my own knives, even when I cook in other people's kitchens. The leather construction of this roll make it durable and able to withstand contact with sharp blades. Each knife blade slides into an individual leather pouch, then a larger leather flap is folded in to cover the knife handles and secure the knives in place. Then you roll the entire case into a cylinder and tie it off with leather straps. I have not had it long enough to report how it holds up over time, and in particular whether the leather tie strings will stay attached for the long run. But overall, I am pleased with the ease of use, the variety of knives it can handle simultaneously, and how compact and efficient the roll shape is. I find it a great way to SAFELY carry my best kitchen knives from place to place.

I loved this utensil/knife holder when I saw it. I bought it as a gift for my son who loves it. He is a hunter and camper outdoorsman who enjoys being able to cook for himself, while carrying as little equipment as possible. This full, genuine grain leather sheath is great for this use. It has been puncture resistant and is tied up to prevent any movement from the knives inside. The slots for the knives are snug and keep everything in place. It even has a slot for a sharpening rod. The size is excellent and was exactly what he needed. I recommend this for any outdoor cooking or food prep.

This came at a good time. I have wanted to take in my knives to get sharpened. After covering them with plastic sheaths, I was able to get two knives in the wide slots and one knife in the more narrow slots. There is a thin leather cover or flap which seems intended to keep the knives from coming out of their slots, but they seemed to be held in pretty well even without it. After the roll and tie, the result is a sturdy, portable protection for transporting knives. I would say it even makes you look more professional regardless of your cooking ability.
