Description

Prolong your tone with the same premium electric bass guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Specially developed based on in-depth feedback from more than a thousand bass players just like you, our tailor-made selection of bass strings proudly includes nickel-plated and stainless steel construction options, four- and five-string sets, and virtually every gauge range you could possibly need. All with our innovative string coating technology. And unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Elixir Strings has re-invented the stainless steel bass string. Carefully designed to enhance everything you love about stainless steel and minimize everything you don’t (including its notoriously shrill sound), these electric bass guitar strings boast a bright, stainless tone with deep lows. Meanwhile, the ultra- thin NANOWEB Coating, redesigned specifically for bass guitars, allows a smooth, natural feel that also enhances grip and reduces finger squeak. For a richer, more rounded bass tone, try our Nickel Plated Steel Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. Frequently asked questions

The Elixir Strings Stainless Steel Bass Strings are fitted with NANOWEB coating, designed to extend the life of the strings by protecting against corrosion and debris that can compromise your sound. They offer a smooth, natural feel with enhanced grip and reduced finger noise. These are long scale strings, perfect for bass guitars with a longer neck and the medium gauge (.050-.105) provides a balanced tone and feel.

The NANOWEB coating by Elixir is an ultra-thin layer that covers the entire string, protecting it from dirt, sweat, and other contaminants that can degrade a string's performance over time. This keeps the strings sounding bright and fresh for a longer period, maximizing the longevity of the strings and saving you from frequent string changes.

In musical terms, 'long scale' refers to the length of the string from the bridge to the nut of the instrument. For bass guitars, a 'long scale' usually measures around 34 inches. The Elixir Stainless Steel Bass Strings are designed to fit bass guitars with such 'long scale' lengths, ensuring optimal tension, tone, and playability.

The gauge of a string refers to its thickness. In this case, the Elixir Bass Strings have a medium gauge (.050-.105), which is a versatile choice suited to a wide range of music styles. Medium gauge strings generally offer a balanced tone, combining rich lows and clear highs. They are also comfortable to play, offering a good balance of tension and flexibility.

Been playing bass for over 37 years and have used so many different brand of stings. These Elixer strings I have been using for 11 years and they are the best durable strings that sound great for longer time.

  • LONG lasting, bright, zingy, and full. Balanced mids, smooth lows, crisp highs.
Size: 1 Pack Style: 4 String Set
I've been string chasing for decades. I always come back to Elixirs. I prefer the brand new, fresh out of the box, round wound sound. I blow through a pack of most string brands after a week or two. With 4 basses in my rotation constantly gigging, recording, and practicing... I would blow $100 per month on strings easily. Elixir has solved this. Both the nickels and steels sound great. The nickels are a bit warmer and the nickels are a bit brighter. However I would consider them both to be a more slap, shimmer type of string. Again, that's exactly what I'm seeking. I get 3 months easily out of a set instead of the usual 2 weeks. I've pushed them as far as 6 months on basses that aren't used every day. ... show more

  • Insanely good for touring musicians
Size: 1 Pack Style: 4 String Set
The price tag is capital S STEEP , for me anyways but they're beyond worth it ! After playing so many shows you're quite obviously going to be tired so maintenance doesn't take as much of a priority as it should , with these though? My strings are never not bright and like new ! These maintain their tuning and tone stability no matter what they're put through , I don't even have a guitar case , I use a gig bag and these are STILL in perfect condition. Using a stingray bass I need bright strings that will compliment the naturally bright tone of the guitar, and these have never disappointed. Always bright , always in tune , always smooth . I don't think I'll ever choose another brand for my bass strings. ... show more

  • Super Crisp & Clear sound...
Size: Lt Medium, Long Scale (.045-.135) Style: 5 String Set
They sound very metallic and super crisp, I can't tell if is true that the bright metal does not fade, but after a month of playing them 5 hours a week, they are still quite crisp. The only reason I give them 4 stars is that the "Long Scale" is not long enough for my G&L L-2500 to go through the body and thus I have had to modify the bass to make sure the bridge is strong enough instead... other than that they are superb... I guess after modifying the bass, I can always use these strings... I will likely re-review in about 6 months to see if the crisp sound is still there... I read some reviews that they feel strange or gooey, I can honestly say I have not noticed that from the nanoweb... they do not feel as smooth as I thought the would be, they feel pretty normal to me. ... show more
