I’m a regularly-gigging bassist for a classic rock band, and all of my basses are equipped with Elixir strings. They hold tone the longest, are smooth on the fingers, and make me a better player. If you doubt me, try a set and compare them to what you’re using. I use the SS ones on my Spector NS Ethos HP for a brighter tone, and the nickel ones on my Fender P/J, my five-string Yamaha, my Rickenbacker 4003, my Sire V10dx and my 1983 Guild Pilot. These strings are ~$40 a set (look for sales), but they are worth every penny if you’re serious about playing and want to sound good.

THE BEST bass strings on the market! They're all I ever use. Long lasting and maintain their tone forever. The coating never peels or flakes off. I change my strings MAYBE once a year. The life of the strings justifies the higher price. Soft and easy on the fingers. Haters gonna hate!

E string dead as a door nail

Ive used these strings for 20+yrs. idk but quality control seems non-existent or "different" and I can no longer rely on buying these strings. It seems one out of every four sets I buy has an issue with the E string being a short scale or just plain dead as in the case with this set. Not only is this E string dead it started to rust after only two days? Dead and rusty no good for 45 bucks a set. Its not humid here. The rest of the strings are fine, ugh. Im hoping for a refund/replacement set for these and probably on the search for something else going forward.
