Description

Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set. Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel. For a slicker, gentler feel, try the original POLYWEB Coating on our 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. For more of a balance between bold and bright, our Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page. Frequently asked questions

NANOWEB Coating is a patented technology by Elixir Strings. This ultra-thin layer is placed on the outer surface of the string. It protects the string from dirt, sweat, and humidity, prolonging the strings' life. Despite its protective role, the NANOWEB Coating is light enough to allow the string to vibrate freely, maintaining the natural acoustic sound of your guitar.

80/20 bronze refers to the composition of the string material. It's made up of 80% copper and 20% zinc. This specific combination is known to produce a bright, crisp, and vibrant sound that's very popular with many guitarists.

Medium (.013-.056) is a reference to the gauge, or thickness, of the strings. The numbers .013-.056 refer to the diameter of the smallest and largest strings, measured in inches. This set would be considered a medium gauge, which gives a balance of tone and playability.

The longevity of the Elixir Strings with NANOWEB Coating depends on how often you play your guitar. However, considering the high-quality coating, the strings are designed to last longer than conventional strings. Some players report that they last up to 3-5 times longer. Nevertheless, for an optimal sound experience, you should consider replacing your strings when you notice a change in sound quality, tone, or intonation.

I use nothing but elixir strings on my reassortment of different 6 and 12 string guitars all 80/20 bronze nanoweb. 13 to 53 “HD LIGHT” on my 6 strings, 10 to 47 on my lawsuit era takamine 12 string. Sound is so big it almost needs no amplification.

  • The edge over D'Addario
Style: Light (.012-.053) Size: 1-Pack
I've used these Elixer Nanocoated strings for over ten years. I can stretch out string changes as they resist my acid perspiration much longer. Less oxidation/corrosion, greater and longer tone over time. I have tried the D'Addario equivalents, they wear about the same, but have a slightly darker tone overall...(to my ear). I dont believe it had anything to do with gauge variances. I have a Martin D28 Adirondack top, 2 Taylor spruce/rosewood/mahogany and a couple custom Adi/Walnut builds. I like the Elixer strings across all of them. Sure, they cost a little more, but they last (retaining tone) twice or more longer. Wait for a sale and buy bulk. ... show more

  • Only strings I ever use
Style: Light - 12 String (.010-.047) Size: 1-Pack
Elixir are the best strings FOR ME! When I started playing I only used Ernie Ball because they were the cheap option that had all the endorsees that I liked with fancy color packs. However I always had issues with breaking my B & e strings. Then I got heavier gauge and stopped breaking but the next problem was rust. I lost string life because I'd string it come back the next day and rust was already formed. I wanted coated strings just because having to replace rusted strings filled with finger gunk was just too expensive even though the EBs were cheap they add up fast. So I moved to the Elixirs and fell in love with the coated strings. 10 guitars all with Elixir because well 10 guitars at ~$15 a set will add up really quick. In addition to the cost of stringing so many fiddles. I can only play one at a time so something may sit on the rack for extended period of time and at a cost of $15 for strings I want to be able to play anything I want. Elixirs are the best for longevity. All that being said they're NOT forever strings they do die and need replacing but it is just the best option for me fiscally. FEEL: I love coated string feel. They're a little slicker and therefore a little easier on my fingers. This is 1000% personal preference. I know some people HATE the slick feeling and others like me that love it. I recently was asked to restring a guitar for a family friend and the guitar is NOT played and the owners really have no desire to learn. (it was a departed family members guitar and more of a memorial piece to them) So I threw these strings on this even at ~$20 because I wanted to have them be able to display it and have the strings stay pretty and should someone want to pick it up, the strings will have life and not rust away while hanging up. Overall love these strings, love Elixir (just not their cost but thats the whole D'Addario company.) ... show more
