First let me say this thing is tiny!! Be sure you pay attention to the dimensions before purchasing. The build/design is awesome though. It does a great job dehydrating. It has a very similar air flow to the Excalibur (I have the 9 tray Excalibur - overkill for small jobs.) This little guy has setting to 158°F (Shame they did not go to 165° to be more versatile!) It is very accurate in temperatures as measured by a calibrated thermometer. This little guy DOES hit its advertised temperature range very accurately, all the way up to 158°F. (most don't so this is impressive! - for the record Excalibur is known for its accurate temps up to 165°F which is one of the reasons Excalibur is so highly rated-and thus expensive.) This thing is the perfect size for small batches. The Excalibur is NOT designed for small batches so this is a perfect add at a great price for the quality. - just putting the thing in the same sentence and having a positive comment against the Excalibur says a lot. Update 27 Oct 2025 I can fully recommend this thing - NO reservations. I have used this thing a lot since buying it with obsoletely no issues. It is durable. When I bought it, I did feel it was a bit expensive. No, it's priced exactly right given the quality of it.

It works and dehydrates things like its supposed to while looking good instead of being an eyesore, which gets it 3 stars for basic functionality and aesthetics. However, I do have some complaints with the product. Although the product claims you can adjust the temperature from 95-158F and this is technically true, in reality you can increase this in increments of 9, which only gives you the option to choose between 8 presets: 95, 104, 113, 122, 131, 140, 149, 158. Also, the unit is a lot smaller than you may expect, as shown in the picture with bananas for scale. Additionally, the machine beeps annoyingly whenever any setting is changed. If you try to change the temp from 95 to 158, it will loudly beep 7 times. Once the timer is up, it will beep and keep beeping until you turn it off.

I bought a spinning one with five layers, and it was round. I bought it used maybe 12 years ago, and it's been busted and can't spin for the last 2 years because a bad kid decided to play with it! Since it took longer, like 12 hours to 14 hours to do the five rows of beef jerky, I chose to buy this digital one. I'm not sorry, wish I had bought it sooner. It's fantastic! I put it for 8 hours, and the top two rows and the very bottom row got heat first and finished first, so I moved around the other two. It still took about 9 hours to do all five racks, but I got a lot of beef jerky out of it. It took as little as just over 3 hours to cook the first row, which is crazy because my last one took a minimum of 6 hours. I love this thing, even though I've only used it once. Once you take the top off, even if you're just looking at the meat, it pauses the operation. Once you put it back on, it starts again immediately from where it left off. It's not very hot, but warm enough at 158°, which is perfect for creating jerky that's not too dry. It's very compact and I actually used it in my bedroom while I slept, so I didn't have to keep going down to the kitchen to check on the meat. It's not loud at all, although at times when it was first going it made some high-pitched sounds, but afterward, it was very quiet. My room smelled like beef jerky, but I could think of worse things for it to smell like! LOL. The racks are also easier to clean and are dishwasher safe, and they can fit in the standard sink, something my last one couldn't do because it was round and oversized. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves beef jerky as much as I do because it makes it quickly, especially the very thick pieces, which is what I use, cubed beef.

Works great for small batch dehydration. I can say I’ve used this 10-15 times and feel I already got my moneys worth but it co tines to run well and I continue to use it. Thank you and I’d recommend this as fairly inexpensive alternative to the the expensive dehydrators.

I am obsessed with my new dehydrator !!! It’s easy to use! It will save me money on jerky in the long run! My jerky tasted better than store bought without all the extra chemicals and additives! I used flaky sea salt which I won’t do next time, but look at that tear in the picture!!! It’s perfect! Also, it’s small enough to leave on the counter.

Why 3 stars, is is a very small unit. Very very small. If it got any smaller you could put it in your pocket. Your electric bill 1. It’s 340 Watts at 4 to 5 amps of power and about 17% on the of power usage on the apc. Do you use one button to set temp or timer. You can control the temperature 1° at a time, many units lack this feature being able to control the temperature 1° at a time. You have to double press the power button to turn it on after setting the temperature and timer. Max temperature was 158° the heating element in the back fluctuating between 163 to 164 degrees. The timer can be set for a max of 24 hours. Will the unit work yes will dehydrate food yes. Just a few things to consider it is a very small unit using a lot of electricity for only a handful dehydrated product. It would pay to get a bigger machine. If you have no space and this is the only size machine you can have basically one that can fit in your pocket uses little to no counter space. The only drawback the amount of produce or product that you can put in it will be very limited. There are other dehydrators on the market that are a little larger than this one and run between 220 and 400 Watts of power. These units can you double the amount of product that this can do. The unit overall is made of plastic and came with the stainless steel Trays, 120 V at 60 Hz made in China, The machines running at 340 watts at approximately 4 to 5 amps of power when tested. Things to consider with buying this unit hopefully this helps others.
