  • Good Quality!
Size: 4 Slice Color: Stainless Steel
This is a great quality toaster. I wanted to use it for a while before I did a review. It is longer and wider than I expected but I have now learned to love that about it and love all the features. I also love that if you have large specialty size bread slices that they can fit with no issues. The slots are very long and wide with no divider in each slot. Bagels fit with no issues. You can put 4 bagels halves or 4 regular pieces of toast in at one time or just 2 at a time. The timer on the side helps also with my impatience as I know what to expect since it shows how much time is left. It does not put out any heat on the sides but does put out quite a bit from the top. Not enough to be concerned unless I had something in there a long time. I do have it on my counter which sits under my upper cabinet next to my microwave and if I were to need something to be in there longer I would just pull it away from my upper cabinet so it would not be directly below it. The cord is a good length. I have not used the metal holders for anything yet to reheat or keep it warm so I cannot say how it works but I am sure it would work great with the heat it puts out. I do have a smaller kitchen and storage space is limited so I can't put it away anywhere plus I don't like getting crumbs in my cabinets. So, I leave it on the counter. It does take up quite a bit of space but I use it a lot, so it works out for me. The 2 main reasons I got it was the timer and the size of the slots so I can deal with the size of the whole toaster because I love the size of the slots. It also had good reviews. ... show more

  • ECT4400 review - mixed bag so far
Size: 4 Slice Color: Stainless Steel
This review is specifically about the new model ECT4400. I say that since Amazon tends to mix up all the model reviews together. I'll be brief: It seems to work ok, it toasts, but there are a couple of quirks which I'll mention. First, the black knob for adjusting browning level has no visible indicator on it to show you what level it's at. There is a little nubbin on the knob, but it's black too so you can't see it. This is stupid. Why didn't they put a speck of white paint on there so you could see where the thing is at. As it is, I cut a small strip of white sticky label, and put it on to show the current position. That works. But why do I have to do it? Also the other buttons are hard to read without getting close and squinting. More on the interface: The digital display is hard to read when the toaster is on the counter, and you are standing in front of it. You have to bend down to look at it more from the same level, when it becomes clearer. Displays can be made to be most visible from certain angles; I believe this one would have been better if they had made it to be visible from slightly above, since that's where people will mostly be looking at it from. Few people will be operating the toaster from eye level. Another display quirk: Below the timer there are bars for indicating the browning level. They go up in intensity, like the signal bars on your cellphone. The strange thing is, the last two bars never get lit up, even if the browning control is set to max. I would have thought that it should light up all the bars when set on max. Otherwise what are those two bars at the end for? When are they ever used? The manual doesn't say anything about it. I tried activating defrost mode, which adds on some time but doesn't change the number of bars. Also the manual is useless for anything deep, it covers all the usual legal stuff and talks about operation of the toaster, but only covers the basic stuff, which you really don't need the manual for. But it makes no mention of the interesting stuff (to me anyway), like why those last two bars never light up even on max, or what "Toast-IQ" is or how it works (they talk about it in the product description here, but no mention at all in the manual). This is frustrating. When you buy a new "gee whiz" toaster with new features (I've never heard of one that tries to sense the internal temperature before - what does it do, dynamically change the time? Or modulate the hotness of the elements? Where are the sensors? etc). I'd like to know more! But the manual just covers the usual useless stuff about how to make toast and adjust the browning. You know, the stuff you really don't need to read the manual for. Frustrating. Finally, my wife makes home-made sourdough bread, big circular loaves which is why we bought a long-slot toaster. When I have tried toasting a couple of slices of this bread, the toaster does do its thing, but the bread comes out at the end crisp and hot, but not at all brown, even on the max setting. This is kind of frustrating, since I would have thought the max setting should be a "nuke it" kind of deal which you would rarely if ever use. I wouldn't expect it to be my usual setting, and even then have the toast come out at the end not even browned. This is frustrating. It makes me wonder if there's something wrong with the toaster (combined with the fact that the top two bars in the display never light up). Is it possible the thing is mis-calibrated or something? But how is that possible when it's "digital". Digital generally means "on" or "off". I don't know how a digital toaster can be mis-calibrated. But maybe it is. I tried calling the company, but just got a message talking about how they're all still working from home due to COVID (WTF) and so please leave a message. I didn't do that, I went back to their site and posted my questions via their customer support form. We'll see how that works. In the meantime, I am kind of "meh" about this toaster. We also tried the Zwilling $150 toaster to see if it was any better, but it really wasn't three times better than this one. So we sent it back, and kept this one. But then I tried the homemade sourdough, and I'm not overwhelmed. Yes it toasts it. No it's not completely broken. It just doesn't ... TOAST the bread as much as I'd like it to. Combined with the lacklustre, uninformative manual, the lack of talking about features such as Toast-IQ which are trumpeted here on the product page, the last two bars on the display never lighting up, the whole thing just leaves me tired. I just want a good toaster that does the job. It seems that is very difficult, if not impossible to get nowadays. I have no idea why. They can't even get little design things right, like putting a white dot on a black knob so you can see where it is. They don't talk about features in the manual which I looked forward to based on the product description here (Toast-IQ). And the darn thing doesn't brown my wife's bread. She said it might be because the bread has a high water content... I don't care, it's a toaster, it should be able to handle artisan breads. I mean that's why we bought the long slot version. Artisan breads is exactly what my wife makes. It's all a bit discouraging really. Oh well. Summary: Yes it works. Kind of. ... show more

  • Beautiful Toaster.. but...
Size: 4 Slice Color: Stainless Steel and Black
The product arrive quickly and in perfect condition. The stylish lines blend in quite well with my Ovente hot water kettle. I bought it mainly for the pop-up warmer. I do not like my bagels toasted on both sides. The little pop-up warmer will toast the inside of the bagel and leave the top as is. It is easy to clean and does a nice job of toasting bread evenly. However, I had to give it 4 stars due to a very simple design flaw. The toaster has the settings painted on the black part with white paint so you can see the level how long you want your item to toast. The knob is the problem. It is solid black. When you turn it to change settings, you cannot see what it is pointing to. You cannot see that little black "dimple" on the black knob unless you have a super bright kitchen. You have no way of knowing if you're pointing at a 3 or a 6. To correct the problem, I used a toothpick and some white paint to fill the little dimpled area with white paint. You can see it in the photo. That made all the difference in the world. I do NOT understand how a design team could overlook something so simple! Maybe none of them have ever used one. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Good deal

Temp control is sensitive. Put it on 2 and still wants to burn toast.

  • Solves several issues
Size: 4 Slice Color: Stainless Steel and Black
This toaster solves how to handle varying bread sizes. While it takes more than normal counter space, it's not as bulky as many four-slice toasters. The front-facing controls are a great addition. The toasting control seems accurate. The warming rack hasn't been used yet. It's good looking and an effective toaster. Boutique bread has met it's match. ... show more

  • A very nice toaster, not overbearing in size and works well. Does not dry out the toasted item.
Size: 4 Slice Color: Stainless Steel and Black
This is a very nice toaster, it toasts items evenly. What I found from going from a toaster oven to this toaster is that this toaster does not dry out the bread. This was very surprising to me and really gives toast a whole new consistency. The warming rack is a nice touch and unobtrusive. The toaster works well and I would recommend it and purchase again if necessary. I would also have no issue with purchasing for someone as a gift. ... show more
