I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ phone and a thick phone case and needed a holder that could hold it. Due to my phone's large size, it wasn't actually easy to find something suitable. This Elgato Smartphone Holder was able to satisfy my requirements. It is able to hold a phone & phone case with a combined length approximately 1 cm thick. It holds the phone tightly via spring loaded mechanism. There are two 1/4-20 female connectors on the bottom and back of the holder. The 1/4-20 connector on the back allows me replace a cheap plastic phone holder that came with a monocular I bought. The holder is made of metal and has a nice weight to it. Note that the only rubber padded parts are the curved areas of holder. I really love this smartphone holder and highly recommend it. ... show more

All metal. Heavy duty and tight grip. No rubber protection on the sides. Not meant to be used without a phone case. In fact I would avoid using it without a case. Personally a twist mount vs sprint might be better as it is difficult to get the phone in and out.
