We tried it on the first night. It had an odd smell and we figured it could be from the feathers. I washed it and the smell didn't go away, but it really didn't affect our sleep. Once dried it fluffed so much it got 10x heavier than when it came out of the packaging. We had a great night sleep. I have a memory foam mattress which is pretty decent but I noticed myself waking up with back pain and tossing and turning a lot at night. Once I got this it was a total game changer.
