The calendar date is useless, as it's too small, silly in fact. Without readers I don't stand a chance of reading it. Even difficult with readers. But for me, not a big deal. Illumination is fine. I did the same thing the other reviewer did, called Citizen and yes it is a sapphire crystal. I thought so because the photos on the back case says Sapphire on it. The band that comes with it is very nice, but very uncomfortable. also I purchased a rezero band for it, is also sold on Amazon. super comfortable great watch band very happy with my purchases. also GMT function is a plus very happy with the watch. ... show more
