Quick edit here since I have bought four more of these since my first one, obviously I love it. I'll say again that it looks like it should cost at least four times as much as it does. Unfortunately, assembly/disassembly continues to be its only weak point.. It took 2-3 fairly capable guys an hour or two to get these very fussy threaded pipe sections screwed together just right on each lamp.. But once it's done, it's done, unless you have to take it apart again at some point. Also I have grown to like the retro 3-way mechanism more (get a 3-way LED bulb!) as I have gotten less enchanted with smart bulbs. Most people just want to walk up to the darn light and turn the switch.. Having to futz around with a phone or get Alexa to hear you right just isn't any value added for most people in most situations, and if their manually switching the light screws up the "smart" function, it's not so smart after all. (Of course MY lights are smart, changing color and brightness and white color tempterature etc, because I'm a nerd.) This torchiere is elegant and looks great. My perfect balance between fancy and plain. It's pretty obviously a reproduction, but handsomely designed and constructed, and wonderfully cheap. It looks pure black to me, with tiny subtle rings of gold around the pleasantly substantial base. It arrives as a series of tubes (like the internet!) with long and fragile threaded joints. You'll want some WD-40. Even with that helpful lubricant liberally applied, there's one joint I can't get all the way screwed together. Other than this ridiculous overthreading, assembly is easy: one base, five tubes, one top piece, one nicely frosted shade. The tubes are already strung together with the electrical cord. No tools required. Note that it's a 3-way lamp so works best with a 3-way bulb (not included). The 3-way LED bulbs seem expensive, and I'm sure the lamp would work with a 1-way bulb. The whole 3-way concept is antique and far inferior to a dimmer, preferably a smart dimmer, paired with a dimmable LED bulb (many are not dimmable and there's a slight price premium). For now, it's an affordable and attractive lamp, cheap at $35 or so. Classiest things in my living room for sure. Well, classiest lamps. ... show more

Great lamp. Goes together in minutes. Solid base, in brushed nickel, it looks great. NICE swirl glass shade is much nicer than plastic. I have a similar lamp I purchased locally for a lot more $$$. They are practically identical twins. Don't hesitate like I did initially with bad reviews on this one. "These are the droids you're looking for". 100% satisfied! The floor lamp is easy to assemble and came in a good variety of finishes including the glass shade and main fixture I chose bronze tone and an amber shade to go with a traditional decor room It didn’t look out of place and give good overhead light in a room with no ceiling fixtures

Very easy to assemble and looks great, actually looks more expensive that it is. Certainly an excellent buy. We wanted a lamp with a screw in bulb since we discovered that the ones with built-in LEDs, once the LED array goes bad after a few years it can't be replaced and you have to chuck the whole thing. I bought three of these and they look and work great. They were very easy to put together (although pulling the cord through is easiest when there are two people). I was hesitant that the poles came in three pieces and I thought the lines separating the pieces would look cheap. Lovely vintage style lamp - well packaged and high quality glass. I struggled with one the bars as the threading to screw it together wasn't great but eventually I got it to twist all the way and was very pleased with the overall appearance. Looks lovely in the corner!

The threads of the screw-together pole pieces were off, so during assembly it went together crooked. In trying to unscrew and re-screw the pole, the threads bent. It was unable to be assembled after that. A complete waste of money! Should the lamp be assembled properly for you, the lamp worked well and had a nice, sturdy lampshade on it. It was used in the bent position for a week and the lamp portion provided great light. Too bad the pole didn't work! ... show more
