  • A prosumer take on the Everse12
Color: Black
Your party speaker ain't got nothin' on this!!! This will be written from the perspective of an audio enthusiast who's not using these for live performances or pro-DJing. That said, I would say I have a reasonable pool of experience to pull from to give impressions from. My home audio preferences are SVS, Polk, Infinity, Yamaha, Onyko and I've certainly auditioned others as well. I entered the world of "Live Audio" after inheriting a role as an A/V operator at a local convention I've attended over the years. Listening to music and video over the years on my personal systems have set a reasonably high bar for clarity, range, and overall experience. I wanted to replicate that in a PA. I quickly learned that price in pro audio does not go nearly as fsr as it does in home audio. After looking at options and budget I chose EV-ETX15P as my speaker. But wait... "weren't you reviewing the Everse12????" Okay, okay, we'll get there. First the baseline. The ETXs have great full range sound reproduction (not as good as a good quaikty 3-way but as they say comparison is the killer of joy), good clarity, and an all but EPIC reach if you dare to dial them up. Clipping can still be an issue, but with reasonable head room, these will clear out anything smaller than a large meeting room at full volume. From a snobs perspective in a quiet room, the hiss from the amp is noticeable within a couple of feet. But these are the expected trade offs you get when you shop. In this dollar amount and in the probable PA market. Now to the Everse12s. Same ecosystem and interface as you find on the ZTX, ELX, EKX, and ETX lines. These have built in crossovers for use with any PA sub and even factory presets for use with other EV subs. The batteries are secured with thumb screws but easily serviceable. They can be used like normal powered tops with AC power or as a truly mobile PA with the included battery. So yeah marketing jargon is all accurate. Like other PA tops, the 35mm socket is loose and sloppy (much to my annoyance.) Any pole with a built in tensioner is a god send. Or a bit of tape around the pole also addresses the problem. I bought my first one in Dec of 24, and the pairing process was HORRIBLE. It took multiple tries to get it to pair to an iPhone 15 and show up in the apps list of speakers. The second i purchased in May of 25, and after updating the firmware via the app, both speakers connect much easier now. The app interface is simple but usable, it allows for some basic tuning and control of both speakers simultaneously. When set as a wireless pair there's no appricable latency between the phone and the speaker or the two speakers. I'm very happy with it. You can also set the crossover setting including level though it. EV claims better battery life than the previous Everse8 using the same battery. Wut??? While i dont have an 8 to test this acually makes some sense. It will take more energy to get the same volume from a smaller driver. Think about it, it takes X energy to move an 8" driver 1/2" of stroke. It will take more energy (we'll pretend 33%) to move a 12" the same stroke. But the amount of air moved from the surface area of the driver will be more than double. Add to that a proper tweeter allowed to move at its optimal frequency and it starts to make sence. You won't need to turn the amp up as high to get the same perceived loudness. As for sound quality, these sound really good. In a side by side they do loose to the ETX but at 1/3 less price, 3" smaller drivers, and considering the wireless and off grid capabilities these really aren't putting up a bad fight. Hum from the amp might be less at no output. Clarity is near even, reach looses, but... when paired with something like an EKX-18SP surpasses that of stand alone ETX-15s. On their own as they're intended they sound fine. Bass is rich and deep (enough). Highs are clear. Mids sound reasonable unless you stack them next to something with a good quality mid-range driver. But I admit I'm a snob. Overall sound quality is one step shy of excellent. The cabinets dont sound plastic when played soft or loud. Volume even on battery will not disappoint, unless your playing a ballroom or large outdoor open space with 500 people. Even if your looking for a BBQ party speaker I'd buy these before the alternatives. For musicians or truly moble DJ, audition them, I think you'll be impressed. Overall I think these are a great buy if the price is in your budget. ... show more

  • These Speakers Kick! (Bangers)
Color: Black
I've had the little brother to these, the EV Everse 8 for a couple of years and they've been great. I used them for several events of 200 people in the main ballroom of the local Marriott. I've never had to turn them all the way up and they are plenty loud and clear. I also used those EV 8s as main speakers for a dance in the same space, with the addition of an EV12 and they did a surprisingly good job, especially when enhanced with a inexpensive Behringer EQ. However, for dances, 8s don't thump like 12s, so decided to try the EV 12s. So, attaching these to the exact same system, not surprisingly they had better deep end for sure. Surprisingly, they did not seem significantly louder. While I've seen YT videos where they are measured louder, I think that depends on how much signal you put into them. This makes sense as the extra deep end absorbs some of the power. That said, these are definitely a better fit for dance music, and can impart a bit fuller sound with speaking, though I tend to EQ out lower ends to aid in clarity. If I had the EV8s and didn't do dances, I wouldn't get these. But, being able to use the 8s for our auction and announcements and these EV 12s for the dance floor (with a 12 sub for extra thump), these will be a great addition. An added note, I find the handle on the top and one on the side to be very helpful and convenient in hoisting these and moving them around. If I had one requested change, it would be to add a couple of "mappable" volume-type controls so you don't have to go into the menu for everything when setting up and adjusting just from each speaker. You can for sure save a lot of money getting powered speakers without the battery, including several models from EV. But if you want the extra flexibility of battery power, and the ability to control your speakers with the EV App, these are hard to beat (if the price is not a deal killer). Speaking of price, if you want to get the EV speaker bags (which I got for my EV 8s, but not my EV 12s), you can take advantage of "kits" which offer the bags AND stands for just an extra $80 (for one bag, one stand). So, great build, great features, great battery life, not cheap -- five stars. ... show more

  • Better Sound Quality

After rigorously testing the Electro-Voice Everse 12, a 12-inch 2-way battery-powered PA speaker, for several performances and events, I am beyond thrilled with its exceptional capabilities. This speaker has completely transformed the audio experience with its crystal-clear sound projection and robust build quality. From the moment I powered it on, the Everse 12 impressed with its deep bass response and pristine high frequencies. The volume output is astonishing for its size, easily filling large venues without any distortion. What sets it apart is its battery efficiency; it reliably delivers hours of performance on a single charge, a crucial feature for any mobile entertainer or event organizer. The portability of the Everse 12 is a game-changer. Its lightweight design, coupled with a solid, easy-to-grip handle, makes transportation a breeze. • Very solid performer
Color: Black
Love these. Great sound with EQ tweaks and excellent battery life. I have the 8s also, and both get used often for live performance. Weight is comparable to a normal 12” speaker. Notes: iOS app is good enough and stable once connected. Bluetooth must be reconnected upon power cycle via a physical press of the button on the speaker. ... show more

Amazing quality and sound. Even though I bought a “used” model. It seems like it wasn’t used at all. It came in all original packaing.

  • This is a awesome speaker!
Color: Black
This is a great speaker! I love battery powered speakers but a battery powered PA speaker is the best. I have Soundbok speakers JBL partybox speakers and Dimondboxx speakers but it is a different world using pro audio speakers. The clarity and the DB level is so much better. I just used my Everse 12 and ELX200 12SP at a 50 Anniversary party and it was amazing. Everyone loved the sound and I loved the ease of loading in and unpacked loading. I will definitely be buying another Everse 12. ... show more
