    • These Speakers Kick! (Bangers)
I've had the little brother to these, the EV Everse 8 for a couple of years and they've been great. I used them for several events of 200 people in the main ballroom of the local Marriott. I've never had to turn them all the way up and they are plenty loud and clear. I also used those EV 8s as main speakers for a dance in the same space, with the addition of an EV12 and they did a surprisingly good job, especially when enhanced with a inexpensive Behringer EQ. However, for dances, 8s don't thump like 12s, so decided to try the EV 12s. So, attaching these to the exact same system, not surprisingly they had better deep end for sure. Surprisingly, they did not seem significantly louder. While I've seen YT videos where they are measured louder, I think that depends on how much signal you put into them. This makes sense as the extra deep end absorbs some of the power. That said, these are definitely a better fit for dance music, and can impart a bit fuller sound with speaking, though I tend to EQ out lower ends to aid in clarity. If I had the EV8s and didn't do dances, I wouldn't get these. But, being able to use the 8s for our auction and announcements and these EV 12s for the dance floor (with a 12 sub for extra thump), these will be a great addition. An added note, I find the handle on the top and one on the side to be very helpful and convenient in hoisting these and moving them around. If I had one requested change, it would be to add a couple of "mappable" volume-type controls so you don't have to go into the menu for everything when setting up and adjusting just from each speaker. You can for sure save a lot of money getting powered speakers without the battery, including several models from EV. But if you want the extra flexibility of battery power, and the ability to control your speakers with the EV App, these are hard to beat (if the price is not a deal killer). Speaking of price, if you want to get the EV speaker bags (which I got for my EV 8s, but not my EV 12s), you can take advantage of "kits" which offer the bags AND stands for just an extra $80 (for one bag, one stand). Loved it for its versatility. The app to control the internal mixer via phone works great. Battery life is excellent. Sound quality is A1. Has been a great speaker for ceremony services when DJ’ing weddings.

The speaker is amazing. But UPS made delivery stressful to the point of making me ill. And almost made me miss out on a $1000 job. If you are in a hurry and they insist on using that delivery company then I would pass.

    • Best & Loudest Pro Battery Weather Resistant Speaker, an all in one solution..
The key features are its weather resistant (rain) and has a long run on its own battery (6 hours at a recent pool party at near max volume) (the battery, is small and light and also easy to swap with a fresh battery if need be). It brings a big sound to anywhere without worry of a sudden downpour. Yes, you could use a portable battery pack with most other speakers but you loose the weather resistance and have another heavy piece of equipment to carry. The Everse 12 is an all in one solution. This speaker weights 31 pounds and is just a bit slimmer and still about 10 pounds lighter (with battery installed) than a QSC K12. I will be using this for outdoor Ceremonies and Beach Ceremonies where the sound of the surf can drown out smaller speakers, pool parties and remote outdoor cocktail hours. It will also be nice having in my kit in case of power outage to keep the party going. It does have a deeper low end (bass) and gets louder than its smaller brother the Everse 8 (which I also own & love), the trade off is, it is 14 pounds heavier than the Everse 8. I plan on getting a second, to have a pair that will cover an average event of 150-200 guest. ... show more
