I want to know who is going to give me my money back for a yarn that’s been discontinued? I saved this yarn for something special and then decided I would wind it up. I’ve had this thing for 20 minutes and I HATE IT! My yarn turned into a tangled mess, I had to cut the ombré parts into sections to be able to salvage pieces of it. HORRIBLE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT!

This winder makes round balls, not flat cakes. I have only used it for fingering and sport weight so far, and it is ok. Sometimes it wraps at different places, it makes the ball look like a snowman. I have rewound several balls to get them to be more even, but I can't tell what happens to make it shift. The only adjustment is the tension and the speed. I have had it working great at a medium speed, then all of sudden it shifts. I have had it working great faster, but then when it shifts, I have to unwind more...the only instructions in box,were how to put the pieces together. I was recently gifted a bunch of sock yarn, with many hanks, so I knew I would need a way to wind yarn at home. It works, but I don't want to wind too much at a time.

The media could not be loaded. I was very hesitant to get this because of reviews, but oh my, I LOVE IT. Size of cake from my last hand crank for reference. This thing can handle a pretty good chunk in a fairly short amount of time. Knots/snags are a hold up, and I would not leave it for a long period thinking it'll finish in it's own, it does need a hand. I did add a small piece of masking tape where the tension knob is because I found some knots were still getting through, but that was user error, I wasn't using the knob correctly!

I bought this because my arms keep getting tired with the winding of the skeins to the ball form. The shape is nice after you get it wound, but as you are using it the form starts collapsing and you have to make sure it doesn't get tangled up as you are going along with your work. I just started winding by hand, again, but every now and then I still use it.
