Verpal YL9000 Electric Wheelchair – Great Power, But a Few Tweaks Needed I recently took my Verpal YL9000 electric wheelchair on a two-week trip to London — and it was an absolute game-changer for my mobility and comfort. I waited to write this review until I’d really put it through its paces, and here’s the honest truth: The Pros: • Battery Life: Excellent. I used the chair daily for long stretches, and it consistently held a charge with no mid-day stress. • Power + Torque: It handled hills, boat ramps, and uneven terrain like a champ. I never felt underpowered — which is critical when navigating a city like London. • Portability: Easy to fold and travel with. It was compact enough for tight spaces and narrow entries. The Cons (Room for Improvement): • Sidewalk Drift: If the surface was sloped (which many European sidewalks are), the chair would drift downhill slightly, and I had to constantly correct by holding the joystick to one side. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it did require ongoing focus and effort to stay straight. • Horn Volume: The horn is far too quiet to be effective in a busy city. It doesn’t grab anyone’s attention, especially in crowds or noisy areas. A louder, more assertive sound would make a big difference in safety and usability. Bottom Line: This chair gave me the freedom to explore and enjoy my trip in ways I couldn’t have otherwise — and I’m incredibly grateful for that. With just a couple of upgrades (louder horn, better auto-correction on inclines), it would easily be a 5-star device.

The chair itself seems more than adequate to serve my mobility needs. The battery range is excellent and the motor(s) seem to perform very well. I especially like the toggle steering (which takes very little time to master). I caution buyers, however, that manganese alloy is used for in the chair’s construction. One of the diagonal arm cross supports on my chair broke! The left support completely sheared apart within a month of use. CAUTION!!! There is no parts list to which you can refer & no way to order replacement parts. Very disappointing! A larger seat size should be made available as well. I am average size male and the chair I purchased is somewhat “tight” to sit in. I also think a gel seat cushion should be included (or a proper size gel cushion should be recommended). I also found the netted side pouches useless- too small, too stiff, & too tight to fit even an iPhone. Pity. Useful sized, soft pouches would be an enormous help. I did purchase a cup holder (which should have been included in my opinion bcz hydration is imperative for Seniors). Finally, BEWARE!!! It can cost you a small fortune should you want to return your chair. Return shipping is on you, and may cost you upwards of 1/3 of the purchase price! Overall, this wheel chair has some excellent features but had I known it was made with manganese alloy, etc. I would NOT have purchased it. For my next chair I will be looking for an infused carbon fiber build. It’s stronger than steel yet lighter than aluminum. This wheel chair seems far heavier than as advertised. I also strongly suggest you shop brick & mortar stores BEFORE buying online. A dealer might match internet prices and you will have the benefit of a local store for your service & maintenance needs. This is my 2nd electric wheelchair. It is more comfortable than my Culver. Power/speed is not consistant. Range is very good. Needs better auto-correction on inclines. it is loud and sqeaky, like it wasn't assembled correctly. Wish I would have returned it. Retired Vet. John D Llew

I love this thing!!! My Mother is disabled. She can’t walk anymore. She had a modest electric chair. Sadly that chair finally wore out. I wasn’t sure where to turn or what to do. Medicare only pays for large bulky unreasonably large chairs. So I pulled the trigger with this chair. It’s a back wheel drive chair as opposed to what she’s use to. But with a bit of time I think she’ll do fine with it. It’s got some get up and go. Honestly more speed than she needs. It goes over her homes threshold so easily. She has a larger Jazzy that can’t do that. With her Jazzy I’d have to buy a trailer to haul it around. This lil light weight guy folds up and stores easily. Not really sure where I can find a replacement battery yet for when it comes time for that. But this is great. It won’t have to be charged every day either. The only thing I found with it is the back wheels are outside the overall width of the rest of the chair. So making a judgement on clearance will take her some getting use to. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star. It seems to be built really sturdy. It still has the same control set up as her old chair so that makes the transition easier. Over all I’m very happy with it.
