I'm in the midst of building a workshop and was looking for an on-demand water heater. I saw this as an option through the VINE program on Amazon and gave it a shot. I don't know much about these units, but this unit (once it arrived) looked much smaller and lighter weight than those that I'd been looking at in person at some of the big box stores. My shop won't be ready to do the plumbing in until later this summer so I haven't put it to use yet, and will likely have a certified plumber take a look before I do so. Water can cause big damage in short order so I don't want to put something in that may fail quickly. This one may be just fine, but my gut tells me that it isn't the same quality as the ones available in the big box stores or through your local plumber. I'll update later as I get this installed (if I do, or if I don't)

This water heater works very well if you use it within the bounds of its usefulness. It's not a replacement for your whole-house water heating. First of all, it doesn't really hit high enough temps for some water heating needs. Second, it just doesn't have that kind of capacity. Instead, it's the kind of heater you'd want for a utility or outdoor sink in a spot where your standard water heater doesn't reach. If you want it for more than that, you'll be disappointed. But, for a small-scale need like that, it's a good heater. Installation is fairly straightforward, especially for someone who has a basic knowledge of how plumbing and electrical wiring work. The instructions are as most instructions these days...a little on the confusing side. But, it's all pretty easy to figure out in the long run. Function is good. It heats water well and doesn't seem to break the bank on electrical pull. (I noticed several people talk about the electrical pull being steep, but we did get the 220V version, so that might make a difference.) Again, it's a great option for a utility or outdoor sink.

I wish I had installed this sooner. I run half a sink of water every time I try to get hot water. It's wasteful and time consuming. Plus, even when I do achieve some heat, it is not nearly as hot as I want it when washing dishes or warming a cloth for cleaning. This simple little appliance has solved that frustration for me. It is straightforward to install, though I didn't install it myself. It has constant hot water on demand. It has safety features and protections for peace of mind. It can be installed in any direction so space constraints are easily worked with. You can control it with a remote control or on the touch panel on the unit. It can be installed wherever you want to ensure you have plenty of hot water on endless supply. This was such a simple and quick fix that my only regret is not installing it long ago.

Ok, so this is not going to replace your standard north american tank water heater, and this is NOT the same as the much more expensive, much larger "tankless" water heaters you would get at a big box store. Think of this as a "booster" water heater- so you don't have to wait a long time to get hot water at a sink that is far from your water heater. This is how the ad describes this product anyway, so don't be surprised if you think you can save space by replacing your old 50 gallon tank with this. Now, if you want to be cheap and live in a warmer climate you *could* use this for a shower, much in the way you *could* just take a cold shower. What I'm trying to say is heaters that are smaller and worse than this are used in much of the world- for example this would be an upgrade for a common brazilian shower with integrated-water-heating-showerhead (yeah this must have seemed like an awesome idea at some point and now its the standard and... yes its as bad as it sounds and yes you can get shocked if you try to adjust the temperature while its on) All this to say, for a cabin, tiny home or some other niche use case- maybe a rinse shower out by the pool- this can be used to make water warmer for bathing. But definitely, its best use case is below your sink making the water hot right when you turn on the tap. Also, get the 220v version. You need to install a high amperage circuit for the 120V one anyway so there is seriously no reason to go that route. People complaining about it not working at all most likely blew a fuse the second it turned on. This draws a LOT of power! Almost twice as much as a window unit air conditioner! But, unlike a tank, it only draws power while its ON. So I am not trying to say by any means that it is inefficient- it just takes a lot of power to heat water instantly. Why 4 stars? ultimately, it does feel cheap. I mentioned the brazilian showerheads because when I first took it out of the box, the light, cheap plastic reminded me of those horrible things. I doubt this is gonna last more than a couple years.
