  • Power In My Hands!
I'm new to DIY. I decided I needed to take on my stairs and I wanted them to look nice. So my house is about 40 years old and the stairs were rough. I got to work with wood putty and smoothing out 40 years of stomping teens, dropped tools, and just shoes up and down them. I wasn't sure what to expect, but once I powered up the TenXcel hand planer - I wondered why I waited so long! Easy to use. Even my arthritic hands handled the power with ease. Worked like a charm with my DeWalt 20V battery. It stayed powered while I worked on the first 5 steps. The depth adjustment is easy to use and it doesn't rock. once set, it stays put. It doesn't have a collection bag, so the shavings do blow out. So be prepared. I didn't see a groove or anything to attach a catcher, so that would be my only draw back. Not such a big deal for outside work. A bit of a bother for inside work. TengXcel has made a great cordless planer that works exactly as promised! Great for beginner woodworkers or DIY. Would gift this to my DeWalt loving friends or recommend if they said they were shopping for a planer! ... show more

  • HAND PLANER POWERED BY DE-WALT STYLE BATTERY, 3-1/4 INCH WIDTH CUT
Battery powered planer capable of planing to a 1/4" plus depth, not quite the 5/64" as stated in the description. The battery fit perfect into the tool, just like an OEM tool would. The trigger switch with its lock out button was easy to work with for my short fingers. The blade speed was phenomenal. No design abilty to add a dust catcher, except for it being an accessory but no listing on how to obtain that part. I would have liked that. Sure beats planing by hand like in my young days. The instructions are easy to understand and there was no guess work. When you need to sharpen the blades, there is allowance for the blade edge to be brought to the proper depth on the drum. I would have liked to see the ability to purchase additional blades just in case I hit an hidden screw or nail in old work. I got this for a project that was going to be a cut '' against the grain'' and it did do an easy job of it. I think this is a great value for its solid build. ... show more

  • Solid Cordless Planer That Planes Like a Pro—If You've Got the Battery Game on Lock
As a weekend warrior tackling everything from refinishing heirloom dressers to smoothing out rough-cut lumber for my garage workbench upgrades, I was stoked to add this TengXcel 3-1/4-inch electric hand planer to my toolkit, especially since it slots right into my existing DeWalt 20V ecosystem without forcing a full system switch. Pretty good quality overall—the brushless motor hums to life with a satisfying whir, churning out 30,000 cuts per minute that shear through hardwood like butter, leaving whisper-thin 2mm shavings in its wake and a glassy-smooth finish that rivals my pricier corded beast from the shop days. I've put it through a solid afternoon session on oak scraps and pine boards for a custom shelving project, and it handled the load without bogging down or overheating, even after 45 minutes of continuous planing; the ergonomic grip with its rubberized overmold kept my hand comfy and vibration-dampened, while the adjustable depth dial clicked precisely between 0-2mm for those finicky edge-trimming jobs that demand control over chaos. The kickstand is a thoughtful touch too—props it up safely when not in use, preventing accidental blade nicks on the bench, and the dust ejection port hooked right up to my shop vac, banishing sawdust clouds before they could settle on my tools (or my lunch). That said, the one head-scratcher that keeps this from a perfect five stars is the classic "no battery included" caveat—why no battery?? I mean, I get the cost-saving angle for us DeWalt die-hards who already own a fleet of those trusty 20V packs, but for folks dipping their toes into cordless woodworking (or those whose batteries are perpetually "charging" in another room), it's like selling a sports car without the keys—functional genius on paper, but you're left scrounging for the starter kit. Mine powered up flawlessly with my 5Ah XR, running cool for over an hour on a single charge, but if you're battery-less, factor in that extra $50-100 hit to get rolling. At the end of the day, though, the build screams value: lightweight at under 6 pounds (sans battery), with chamfer grooves for clean corner work and a reversible blade that stays sharp longer than expected for the price. For home DIY carpentry or light pro tasks, this TengXcel planer's a reliable workhorse that earns its keep—grab it if you've got the power sorted, and you'll be planing your way to pro-level projects in no time. Just stock up on spares if you're going battery-blind! ... show more

  • Budget Cordless Planer That Delivers. Dewalt 20V Maxx compatible
The media could not be loaded. I run all Milwaukee M12/M18 tools, so I was skeptical about this cordless planer that runs on Dewalt 20v Maxx or 60v Flex batteries. Luckily there are a bunch of aftermarket MIL18DL (Milwaukee M18 to DeWalt 20V) adapters available, I got mine for under 10$ and now I can run this tool off my existing M18 batteries. Worked out perfectly. Performance: - Works great even with M18+adapter, plenty of power - Blades are sharp and kick out super clean chips - Heavy-duty aluminum base with V-groove for knocking off corners - Simple depth adjustment and solid belt drive - Lightweight, can be operated easily with one hand. Extras that matter: - Guide fence helps keep cuts straight - 45° angle attachment adds versatility Value: - Costs about 1/3 of what you'd pay for a name-brand cordless planer - Great option for DIYers or anyone already running Dewalt 20V Maxx gear. Video shows it in action, clean cut chips look like toothpicks, smooth operation, no bogging down. Would have been nice if it came with some kind of Shop Vac attachment because it does make quite a mess. They instructions mention a dust catcher bag, but unfortunately its sold separately. If you’re looking for a cordless planer that won’t break the bank and plays nice dewalt 20V Batteries, this one’s worth a look. ... show more
