I have been very impressed with this dethatcher! There was some basic assembly before putting it to use but once it was assembled, it was easy to maneuver and use. I like how there's a single lever to raise and lower the height and changing the cutting tool was pretty simple. I did find that I needed to empty the bag before it was full. The handle folds over well and makes for a smaller footprint to take up less space. If you're looking for a dethatcher or scarifier to clean up your lawn, this is a great place to start. Not shown in the pictures, but I recently applied grass seed to some bald patches in my yard. This was a big help to get the soil prepared. Here are a few key points to know about this product: Pros: - Lightweight (I was pretty shocked at how light it is) - Low noise - Dethatching and scarification work as expected - Easy adjustable height - Folds up for storage Cons: - Doesn't use all of the bag (only fills about halfway before falling out) - Assembly instructions were challenging to understand ... show more

We were very close to spending a big money to replant all grass until one of my friends suggested we try a dethatcher to get rid of dead grass first. During my research, I found out that this piece of equipment can provide both dethatch and scarifier functions by simply switching the cylinder, and the size is perfect for my yard. Hence, I placed my order. The item was packaged neatly when I opened it. The hardware for assembly is well-sorted and packed in individual bags. Following the manual step-by-step, the assembly was fairly straightforward and not complicated at all. Its mechanical design is user-friendly, such as the adjustable handle and the 4-stage control gear of the height. Cannot wait to try it out after assembly and work AMAZING!! Strong power to kick up the dead grass and till up my dense dirt. The bag is quickly full of all moss. We were amazed at how much thatch this thing pulled up. After that, we switch to a scarifier and massage my soil. The result is Excellent not only in the yard but the flower bed. I used it to dethatch my entire yard and then I came back and used the slicing blade to soften up an area that needs to be reseeded. While doing this I discovered grubs in my soil. This is our second summer at this home and this yard has not been cared for in many years. Heavy thatch in the front and hard alkaline soil in the back. Easy to maneuver, vey light weight. Easy to adjust, easy to assemble. Easy to change blades. I mostly used the highest setting because I was not sure what the dethatching would do for my lawn. Even at that setting I got MANY lawn bags full of dried grass. The cord management is kind of a pain but this is not a tool I will use often, maybe twice a year in New England. For the price I can deal with a cord. Mine did not come with a bag to catch the thatch. Clearly a bag would be useless because of the amount it brings up. The bag would fill in less than 10 feet of yard. Be prepared to rake up a lot of thatch. ... show more

This dethatcher is just what I needed. It arrived well packaged and was quick and easy to assemble. I needed to swap out the scarifying blade for the dethatcher and found changing blades was also easy and quick. I also really like the power of the electric motor as it doesn’t bog down or have any trouble with the thickest thatch on the deepest setting. It worked really well on about 3000 square feet of grass and pulled out lots of thatch and dead grass. The amount of thatch it pulled up was amazing. Ended up just using a riding mower with a bagger to pick up all the thatch. It is much lighter than I expected, but that was a plus as it is easy to move around and store. I have rented dethatchers in the past, but this unit did every bit as good of a job at removing thatch. The lack of the mess of gas and the pain of constantly having to charge batteries is a big plus. The only thing I wish was different was that I had gotten the wider one. The media could not be loaded. I am late on my yard game this season and old one died on me so I grab this dethatcher as a last minute fix. Boy am I glad I did. This thing is a beast. Had no problem grabbing up the dead grass, as compacted as it was. I"m used to gas powered tools so I was shocked at the ability of this machine. Lightweight which made it easy to control and changing out the blades was a piece of cake. Can't stress enough this machine is powerful. My only complaint is that the instructions could've been a more clearer ( images a little blurry) but easy to figure out once you caught the hang of it. ... show more
