This step through Sohamo ebike is performing better than I was expecting for an electric bike at this price point. It comes less assembled than most ebikes, and that may turn off potential buyers, but for me that was a plus as I enjoyed putting it together. It still only took me about 30-40 minutes from start to finish. It comes with no assembly manual but a barcode on the box leads to a detailed assembly video. All the tools came included, and the ebike was very easy to put together. Pros: This ebike is very powerful. The thumb throttle can give you full power, no matter what peddling assist you are on. The hub motor has plenty of torque, and can cruise up hills with little effort. Brakes are mechanical, but have great stopping power and only minor adjustments were needed out of the box. The Shimano shifter is pretty standard, but works well and again required no adjustments. The plastic fenders are great, rear rack is solid, and folding ability is a plus. The 20 inch tires and small frame makes it a perfect fit for me (5'8") and girlfriend (5'5".) The seat has a lever that will fold up, allowing easy removal of the battery. Cons: The front dampening shock are nothing to write home about. They have no adjustments and just feel like what you would find on a cheap mountain bike. But they do work so I can't complain too much about it. The thumb throttle works well, however it feels a little flimsy like it was made out of cheaper plastic material. The battery (15ah) does not last nearly as long as they say it does, but that has been true with every ebike I have ridden. I can travel 15-18 miles before I start getting dead battery anxiety. Finally, I am apauled by the amount of packaging foam that came in the box. You know the kind that breaks off and clings to everything like white snow? I appreciate that it came well protected, but the amount of non‐recycled materials I had to deal with was terrible in this day and age. Overall thoughts: You get a lot of bike for the money spent on this folding ebike. The build quality is decent and it is fun to ride. I have a much larger ebike that I ride, but I find myself jumping on the Sohamo more often than not. I love the step through design and it's light weight (compared to my other, much larger ebike.) Other than the cheap feeling front suspension, and the garbage bag full of non-recycling materials, this ebike is a good ride. ... show more

I love this ebike. I did a lot of research and I think I got one of the best deals available. The bike delivered as promised and was easy to assemble. I followed one of the videos on youtube for this model. I bought the bike to use while hunting. It is quiet, it is fast and the peddle assit gives good battery life. I ride it on dirt roads and around fields on the farm. It is just what I wanted. I recommend this bike. ... show more

Love the bike!! Make sure to secure the handle bars (my previous bike came with handle bars assembled). I noticed the bars would jiggle loose no matter how much I tightened them…they ended up twisting free during a ride causing me to face plant…I got some lock tight for the bolt and haven’t wrecked since….be careful!!! ... show more

Super fast and fun to use. Folds up easily! Assembly is a b&;$:&@ !! Wish they made a video or provided some sort of instructions we luckily had a friend with us who is a bike mechanic, but I’m an engineer and my wife a designer and we could not figure it out so yea I would suggest getting instructions from the Seller. Otherwise the bike is fun and very sturdy and the battery last at least a few days with shorter <10 mile trips. ... show more

    • Brutal honesty.

This says it’s an adult bike and I understand it’s also supposed to be compact and easily broken down buuuut I feel like this bike is meant for smaller/shorter people. I’m 5’8 and I weigh 125 pounds. I wish the max handle bar height could be adjusted to go up a little further. Also I feel like the throttle twist handlebar would be nicer if it was one of the thumb push buttons instead. Don’t get me wrong I like the bike I just feel like it’s more of a glorified electric sit down scooter for me versus an actual bike. The handle bars aren’t very long in width either so if you have long arms like I do it’s a little difficult to steer at first. Also I understand companies are trying to go green but this doesn’t come with an instruction manual. You have to print it out yourself or watch a video to put it together which was a bit frustrating. It also says you can adjust the ride through the fork in the instructions I printed out and I’ve searched the entire bike and that’s not an option. Another thing they don’t mention at all is that when you use the bike there’s 2 separate keys you need. One to turn the battery on and one to turn the bike on and the keys don’t come out unless you’re done riding the bike and everything’s been turned off so you have to keep the keys on separate rings. The seat is decently comfortable to me but if you personally do not like the seat it’s gonna be a hassle if you need or want to take the battery out of the bike to charge if you decide to get a new one because there’s a lever underneath to tilt the seat forward to pull the battery out without having to take the whole seat off. ... show more

I searched for months for a practical compact affordable peddle assist Ebike.......despite the lack of battery life it claims to have(it's ok, but not true to what they say about the range and battery life)it's still a good bike. I can get to and from downtown with ease. It's really easy to assemble shops fast and is half the price of all the other bikes. I recommend it as long as your not more than 5'10 or taller....it is still ridable, but I imagine would be uncomfortable. I'm 5'7 and I just found my sweet spot ... show more

Neat bike. I'm still learning my way around it but I'm having fun doing it. I wasn't quite ready to spend several grand on an ebike to replace my road bike (like some of my friends). But I wanted one for the days I didn't feel like all the peddling and a Fat Tire Bike gave me other play options (I'm over 75 so I don't play too hard anymore). I still get a good workout on this thing but if I go out too hard, I let the bike do the work coming home. I've learned not to change mode while peddling and if I've gone above 1 (I start out at 0 assist) be ready when I take the first peddle stroke after stopping. It really launches you through an intersection. But like I said I'm having a ball learning how to sue it. ... show more
