  • It is the best thing you will get your hands on for the price.
The noise cancelling works, even though it is not listed. The earcups fit any sized ears, and the headband will not mess your hair up. It is very comfortable and can go through tons of gaming. The audio quality is the best it gets and can be enhanced with the driver. The driver has every feature you need so you don't have to worry about getting several. The 7.1 surround sound works perfectly fine and can let you feel what's going on around you in a game or movie. ... show more

  • Good, not great
Needed something with more dynamic range. Returned the unit and bought the Audio Technica professional broadcast headset. Much better microphone. That said if voice quality is not a big issue for you the unit was functional, attractive, and decent build quality for the price.

  • Bass is a bit muddy (updated review)
Updated Review (2022-10-06): I decided to cancel my return and keep the product once I was able to troubleshoot some more. The reason the 7.1 emulation wasn't working is because of either a faulty USB port or a bad driver installation, or both. To use the 7.1 surround feature, you have to install a driver package available for download on the manufacturer's website. I did that and when I plugged in the USB cable, the driver recognized the device was connected. But, when I tried to enable 7.1 surround, the program would crash. I reinstalled the driver and for whatever reason it worked this time. I can now toggle on / off the 7.1 feature. But it still didn't seem to work. My machine has many USB ports, several of which I've never used so I tried plugging the device into one of those and everything is working as expected. As for the muddy sound, that's why I only gave it 4 stars. I was able to set the application's equalizer to a somewhat acceptable position but there still seems to be a slight unnatural reverb when there is speech without any background music. Might take more equalizer tweaking. Here is my recommendation on tweaking the equalizer: 1. Get a media player that supports looping a segment of a video or audio 2. Get a video or audio clip with a broad range of sound (bass, speech for mids, and environment effects such as thunderclaps or rain or traffic sounds). 3. Find a scene where there is a mix of audio types and set your player to loop a 30 second clip 4. Listen to this WITHOUT headphones for a while, to tune your ear 5. Plug in the headphones using the USB connector and tweak the equalizer until it sounds similar. I started with the preset "Metal" and then adjusted them manually. You will want to focus on the sliders in the 31 Hz to 500 Hz for the bass (explosions, crashes, soundtrack) and speech (Dom, Brian and others). The sliders from 1k and up will also need to be tweaked a little but those are for the higher pitched sounds (police sirens, engine revs) and require less adjustment. So after getting it to work, I decided to cancel my return and increase my rating. The headphones are comfortable to wear (despite the warmth) and as frustrating as it is to have to tweak an EQ, I understand not everything works 100% right out of the box. Since it isn't a technical failure of the product, I feel a 4 star rating is earned. Original Review: "Sound is muddy, 7.1 surround doesn't work" I wanted to like these but after a week of watching various content sources (music, streaming, gaming, etc.), the experience was overall disappointing. Pros: * The detachable cords - Easy to get a replacement if needed * The detachable mic - Nice for when you don't need it * Lightweight - Makes them comfortable to wear for long periods Cons: * Hot - The fake leather (vinyl?) earpads retain heat more than cloth ones and make your ears hot * 7.1 surround didn't work - No matter what I tried, I could not get directional "surround" in any games * Sound is very muddy - The frequency range is listed as 20 Hz to 20 KHz but it sounded like everything was being run through both low and high pass filters, dumping it all somewhere into the 100 Hz range. There was very little separation between speech and background music. This was especially noticeable in movies that were actually encoded in 7.1 and not being upmixed. 100Hz is the start of the human voice range so having all the other audio in that range made things sound bad. ... show more

  • Sound/Comfort Good -- USB Wire is Junk but Eksa has great customer service
EDIT: I've increased my rating from 2-stars to 4-stars. Eksa reached out to me and was very eager to correct the issue. Fantastic customer service. As stated previously, the sound and comfort of this unit is top-notch. If the cable issue occurs with your unit reach out to Eksa and they will make it right. I purchased these in July 2020, so they're about 2 1/2 years old. The sound quality and comfort are actually quite good. These get used pretty much every day, for several hours each day. I only have one complaint with these, but it's a pretty major one. A few months ago I noticed a couple of spots on the USB cord was feeling really soft and swollen, like the wire was getting blisters on it. One spot was only a few inches away from the ear piece, so it wasn't anywhere that was receiving regular contact with anything. It was just dangling below my left ear. The other spot was about halfway down the wire, so it tends to rest on the comforter when I'm using my laptop in bed. A couple weeks later the blisters split open and a bunch of blue/green "ooze" came out of them, staining my clothes, sheets and comforter. If you squeeze the wire near the blisters, ooze continues to come out. I have no idea what this stuff is, or why it apparently ate through the insulation of the wire like that, but it's a totally unacceptable phenomenon to occur in a headphone wire. I cannot, in good conscious, recommend this product for long term use. ... show more

  • Great value headset with amazing comfort, connectivity, good audio quality, okay mic
This is a great headset for the price. Perfect for music or gaming and pretty good at video conferencing. From good to bad, here's my thoughts: - Amazing connectivity with USB or 3.5mm jack. 3.5mm jack optionally locks in place, which is a subtle but awesome feature. I'd imagine it would be great for music while working out or jogging. - Very comfortable and can wear all day - Mic is removable - Good headset audio quality, impressive for the price. These are among the best headphones I own, but the audio quality is still not amazing. Treble and bass are reasonably well balanced, but audio is just a touch muffled. - USB cable cannot plug directly into a smartphone. You need to use the 3.5mm jack - Mic audio is mediocre. The noise cancellation works pretty well, but the audio picked up by the mic is just okay. Not bad, not good. ... show more
