I have put this Nicklaua incubator to use as soon as it arrived, since I had some fertile chicken eggs. I will list below the likes and dislikes of this incubator, compared with other incubators that I have: Likes 1) It was easy to set up 2) It has a water bottle that is externally connected to the incubator, so it is not needed to open the incubator to add water 3) It has a candling button 4) It has automatic turner 5) The spacing between the egg tray can be adjusted based on the size of the egg 6) It has a hatching net, thus the chicks can be hatched in the incubator 7) It does not take a lot of space Dislikes (minor) 1) It does not have an automatic selection for different types of eggs, such as chickens, quails or ducks, so the settings need to be changed manually 2) The eggs are not visible from the top, only from the sides 3) It does not have an automatic day counter Overall, I am pleased with this incubator, and I would recommend it! ... show more

The assembly of the incubator was pretty simple and the instructions were simple and clear. Everything was packaged well and no parts were missing. The temperature settings are in Celsius which was a little confusing. It was able to hold 12 of my eggs. It seems to be working I guess we will see in about 21 days.     • When Mom Isn't Available
The best Mom is their Mom but, if there isn't a Mom, an incubator is an excellent choice. With the high price for baby chicks, turkey, pheasants, peafowl, ducks and geese and their availability is normally seasonal, having your own incubator you can produce your own flock for personal use or for sale anytime. Back in the early 1960s, I had a homemade incubator/brooder that I hatched quail and ring-neck and golden pheasants. I had the adults for the fertile eggs. I also had Mallard ducks, but they needed more humidity than non-water fowl, so I let the Mom do the incubating. Nothing was automatic and this Incubator can do most of the work. Make sure the ambient temperature is at least 68-degrees and keep water available for the humidifier. Something I didn't know, until I read info about incubating the eggs, is the shutdown that starts 3 days before hatching day. I do not agree with leaving all the chicks in the incubator until all the chicks have hatched, especially when mixing regular chicken eggs and Banty eggs that have different incubating lengths. I have a granddaughter that wants her own chickens so we are starting with the eggs first. I live in a rural area with many people having their own chickens and getting non-refrigerated eggs is not an issue. I could, but I wouldn't do it (plus it can be illegal), rob the eggs from the wild Mallard ducks, wild geese and the wild turkeys that nest on my property. ... show more

This is an awesome egg incubator. We are using it for fertile chicken eggs. Love the larger see through areas and adding water from the outside, two things my previous incubator did not have. It’s so easy to use, even if it’s your first time, this does most everything for you and is hard to mess up. We will be using it more regularly for quail eggs and hope it goes as well. We are having very good success with it so far, can’t wait for hatching! I definitely think it’s a quality incubator. ... show more

I have two other incubators and my mom has one and this one is by far the best one. It is a perfect size for fitting your eggs from all different types of birds but not overly huge. It has the perfect shape and is so easy to hold and carefully move. It has built in areas to carefully grasp the incubator and move it incase you don't like where it is. It has a smooth oval shape that is so easy to keep clean and wipe down. You fill the water from the outside which is so great that you don't have to remove the lid and screw up the inside temperature to refill. It has a digital temperature display on top. I have managed to hatch biddies in this one. I love that you can see into it. Makes a great project for the kids. My kids aren't pushing and fighting to see in. Everything came included. I hatched out some silkie eggs I had.
