  • Great Investment
Style: Indoor Installation
After months of research and debating on the best way to replace my aging Water heater I decided to choose the EEM24018. Couple reasons that I chose the 18 instead of going larger. I have an older Electrical system that made it difficult to find 3 or 4 double pole slots. I went with the 18Kw since it only has two heating elements and only requires two double pole breakers rather than 3 or 4. Was skeptical if it would be enough for my house or not but It works great and meets all my needs (Central North Carolina.) I installed the system myself since I'm knowledgeable in home repair. If you don't feel comfortable dealing with Electric and Plumbing then seek professional help before you buy. Depending on current electric service the Electrical work should cost approximately (150$ Material / +300$ Labor) making this project double the cost to replace a 40gal WH. But if you feel comfortable with the work then you can't beat the cost difference. My cost $290 - EEM24018 $120 - 125' 8/2 Wire (Up to 60' distance from WH location to Electrical Panel) $20 - 2 Double Pole 40A Breakers $20 - 2 new 3/4" WH lines (Not required) Total Cost 450$ - 5 Hours of Labor mostly to run the electric lines. Compared to 400$ and 1 hour of Labor for a 40 Gallon Conventional Water Heater. I have my temp set a 114 and run only Hot water for showers. Plenty of pressure since I have 3/4" Main trunks. Water takes probably 20 seconds to heat up and another 60 seconds to balance itself. Also I have a well with a water tank set around 50 psi, with my old conventional water heater my water temp would fluctuate any time the Water heater took in water or my water tank tripped the well on. This would happen every couple minutes as I have an old mixing valve for my shower and heard about it weekly from the Mrs. This completley solved that issue. I have nothing negative to say about the EEM24018 and will update with any changes as they happen. ... show more

  • Maybe not buy the previously owned one or cheaper one for some reason
Style: Indoor Installation
So I’ve had this thing packed away in the box because I figure I’d keep the other water heater for a while longer. So I just installed it and Rand the power for it. Five years later I figured it’s time to change it out to the Eemax now. Wrong! It’s not working right! It has H 103 on the display and wont adjust at all. Just stick with that number. I’m starting to lose faith In The idea of going tankless. I’m very disappointed right now and most likely will have to change the water heater back to the old one. ... show more

  • Make sure you hire someone
Style: Indoor Installation
I’ve installed a bunch of these they are spectacular. Make sure you have adequate power and slots for three 220 breakers for this model. I always locate them close as I can to the breaker box , the wire is the most expensive part. Make sure it doesn’t get to freezing where you are installing it. it’s only warm when it’s on so if not in use it will freeze. a garage or closet backing up to the power box works nice. Also drop supply lines and hot lines down to 1/2” or you will get to much flow and it will cycle to much and your water will just be warm or even cold on some high flow tubs. The water needs time to heat as it passes through and 1/2” works best. so this may be a larger job as you may be changing more plumbing in the house, at least the hot line to your fixtures. I had to do this on the first one I installed so I didn’t make that mistake again. ... show more

  • Great water heater...works great in Florida
Style: Indoor Installation
Works great. I've had for 6 months and no issues. You have to ensure it is installed correctly. You will need 2 double 40 amp fuses dedicated just for this to work. It also helps to plan for maintenance when installing. If you add 2 valves one on the in and one on the out and a main valve to shut off the water coming into heater. You have to flush 2 times annually. I use vinegar or CLR to clean the internal heater coils from hard water. I installed a 3M water filter to help reduce mineral deposits. It seems to work because my first flush was very clean only a few scale pieces came out. I highly recommend planning for inline water filter. I live in Florida and ground water temperature is everything when it comes to tankless water heaters. It's easy to think about. I live in Florida my ground tap water is 65°-75° annually. To heat my water to 115 degrees my water heater has to heat my water 40°. If you live in let's say Michigan and your ground tap water is 36°-46° annually. Your water heater has to heat 70° to get to 115°. You may need to install a water restricted after your water filter to slow the water down to allow the coils to heat the water to desired temperature. Living in Florida I do not require this because my water is warm out of the ground and my water heater has plenty of time to heat it before it goes through the pipe. I have a two story 1800 Sq ft townhouse with 2.5 bathrooms and all cam ne used at the same time both showers and a sink or dishwasher with minimal temperature fluctuation. You may feel a few degree temperature change when all 3 are being used. I have the heater set to 120° and it seems to help alleviate this issue also you don't need all hot on you can use more cold but still have hot water for showers and baths. ... show more

  • It is very effecent!
Style: Indoor Installation
This is my second tank less water heater. I have been using it for a few months. It is impressive takes a little longer to get stablized but once you have reached it"s activation point it keeps up with the demand. My old unit was never this efficent, two people could shower at the same time but it took planning. This heater works very well no mater how much demand it receives. I am very pleased so far. I especially like the digital temp setting screen. If you cannot have a gas unit because of aviability this heater this one will do a lot better than a tank type, and save you a lot of money, unless your water cost are extreemyy high. You will use a little more water with this one simply because it is not instant, not far from it but not instant. Now the closer you get it to the use area the better you will like it. I have at least 60 foot runs from the heater to the source, for all but one of my 7 high use areas... ... show more
