I think the existing reviews were accurate but I found a couple bandaids that helped them sound better. Firstly reviews suggest the mid range on these was a bit underwhelming. I plugged these in on my coffee table and this was indeed very true. The speakers have alot of range and accuracy, I was hearing things in the music I couldn't hear before. However the music sounded "cold" and lacked some of the brilliance from a better speaker. I found switching the speaker to my wood desk and near a wall really improved the sound tremendously. I also notice a huge difference between plugging in my laptop vs my high end desktop and I think this is due to the differences in motherboard sound chips/drivers and the quality of the signal it's sending to the speakers. My desktop sounds much better with the same music on these speakers. I also found a reddit that suggested to turn the treble and bass we down to help avoid drowning out the low mids on this speaker. Not sure if this is part of it or not but they sound much better in my small office than in our larger living room. I agree the bluetooth isn't very intuitive and took a bit to get working. I now have it working. Look/design - Here's where it did not disappoint. the speakers look incredibly stylish and premium. The wood and front mesh both look well made and stylish. They have a good amount of weight to them so they don't rattle, rubber feet fit well on desk. Sound transfer: This was a huge benefit of these speakers. My old/cheaper system had a sub, and annoyed my wife from other rooms even at very low volumes. I can turn this system up reasonably high in my office and with the glass french doors closed my wife can't hear much at all from the next room let alone the upstairs. Really looking forward to this benefit so I can actually use them. I would give a higher star rating if they were a bit "warmer" sounding/ had better tuned mid range sounds. ... show more

I am literally going back-and-forth from these to a Massive $6100 2.1 Set up and I'm trying to figure out what I am doing wrong because these might sound better.... Not talking about Output or Volume but the clarity out of these R1280DB's are incredible... Music TV it doesn't matter... I'm definitely going to look into Edifiers Higher-end speakers! ... show more

    • Great speakers, with weird Bluetooth issues at times

I love the quality and volume of audio these speakers produce, which was very surprising for their size, though I have a couple qualms about them and it's pretty much exclusive to the Bluetooth functionality. For starters, it seems, it is not possible to set the speakers to Bluetooth as their input source using the remote, but this is extremely confusing since there is a dedicated Bluetooth button right on the remote! Every time I want to switch from optical to Bluetooth I have to physically go to the speakers and change the input on them manually.... so why put a Bluetooth button on the remote if it does nothing?! Secondly, when using these for music playback from a paired Google Home speaker, at the beginning of EVERY song that plays, after about 1/2 second into the song the audio cuts out for a second.... Literally on EVERY song! It's so annoying, but at least it seems limited to that. And just today, I tried to play some music from them directly from my phone, only to encounter the weirdest issue ever; every time I tried to play MUSIC on them it would stutter non-stop, literally one stutter every second, followed by like maybe 1/8th of a second of audio, basically unlistenable... but playing non-music content (vlogs on YouTube) it played flawlessly, switch back to a music station (still on YouTube) and the stutters return, also all Spotify channels of course stuttered as well. Brought the speakers back inside, disconnected the second speaker from the first and went to do playback again and the stuttering was gone... maybe a speaker cable issue? Still troubleshooting that one, but yeah, these speakers seem to get some very weird issues from time to time, but their audio quality is remarkable... just wish they didn't have Bluetooth issues!! ... show more

I just set these things up and my god they sound amazing. These turn any budget poor sounding turntable into something amazing. Plus, they have Bluetooth compatability and doesn't sacrifice quality. Fantastic speakers for the price

Plug and play out of the box. Connection to Bluetooth was simple and I was playing music within 5 minutes of opening the box. Sound is really nice for small size. Could have used a longer speaker wire
