The eggplant color of this coat is beautiful. It is nice and long to keep my legs warm in the wind, plus it insulates my fanny from cold car seats. I've worn this coat in 40 degree fall weather without overheating, plus on shopping trips. When we finally had -20F, it still kept me warm. I really love that it has snaps for when I take the dog out for a quick walk. The hood is warm and is deep enough to block the wind. I didn't buy it for rainy weather, so I can't comment on water resistance. I usually wear a XXL or 2X and ordered this in 3X so I can wear thick layers under it. I had bought another brand of long down coat (O.R.) that was very highly rated by those who rate cold weather coats. Customer reviews said that coat ran large and to size down, so I ordered the largest size they had at the time, XL. That coat fit me OK on top, but was too tight through the hips. It was cut straight with no allowance for larger hips. It also didn't have snaps. That more expensive coat was returned and I ordered this Eddie Bauer coat which I love.

I love this coat! I returned an LL Bean down coat because the zipper only came down to mid thigh, even though the coat was long. This coat zips almost all the way down. I have no problems driving with it zipped, but you can always unzip from the bottom up a little. It is WARM. I live in a very cold climate with high winter winds. I never felt cold with this coat on. It’s also so comfortable and lightweight. Pockets are big enough, hood is fine (I unzipped the fake fur off immediately), fits as expected (I got a small, I’m 5’8”, 138 lbs. I washed it and dried it twice this winter with no lost feathers. Great price.

Had a Canadian friend actually suggest going with Eddie Bauer for a coat brand since her have always lasted several years and held up against Atlantic Coast winters. I'm not typically a brand name buyer, usually going for something middle of the road for price, but I decided to buy this coat on a Black Friday sale. Let me tell you: I have never gotten overheated in a coat while thigh-deep in snow before, but today was a first. I actually had one layer on under it and found it too hot in 38 degree weather. However, a few nights ago when it was -7? No problems, I was toasty with two shirts beneath it to work out in the snow for two hours. At 5'0, the petite length comes down to about my mid-calves. I normally wear a medium, but the large allows 3 layers and probably more if I needed it, but two layers has been more than enough for the temps I've been dealing with lately. It's also lightweight and the snow just slides right off. The pockets are also insulated, so I haven't even needed gloves if I'm just walking around (and, better yet, my phone battery hasn't drained like mad in the cold once it goes in the pocket). Easy to wash. Has held up against overly excitable dogs that like to hop up to greet me. 10/10. Definitely would recommend!

Fantastic Winter coat! Bought a medium I’m 5’3 140. Perfect fit! Warm, cozy on the inside and fashionable. Kept me warm while visiting Detroit in the winter; the zipper allows a more appealing fit, or if I have a bulky sweater I can use the snap buttons to close coat that way and give myself some extra room if I prefer. Hood is convenient and Kept me warm; you can remove it as well. You can sinch waist in from the inside as well. I’ve seen these coats and many run the price of 300 and up. So this price is Great, for a good quality coat that will last.

This coat is beautiful and I'm sure it'll be very warm when the Chicago winter hits. It's nice and long. Hits me around mid calf and I'm 5'6". That being said, I agree with the reviews, it runs small, order up, seriously. The exchange process is very frustrating. I am currently in the process of trying to exchange this for a medium instead of a small, the sleeves were very short, and it's pretty tight with a sweater underneath. I usually wear a small with other outdoor companies like Columbia and Patagonia, so this seems on the small size. I'm 5'6", 135 lbs. This isn't really an Amazon Prime item. You have to do all returns and exchanges through Eddie Bauer, the item takes 5 days to ship and arrive, and you have to pay $5 if you want return the item to Amazon. You can't even take it to an Amazon locker to drop it off if you do return it, you have to pay $5 to find and drop off at a UPS location. I had to call Eddie Bauer directly to get a free prepaid exchange/return label emailed to me. It's going to take 24-48 hours to receive that email, and I have to call to request the next size up after I get the lable. I'd just order this directly through Eddie Bauer if you're going to! Worth the price difference. Maybe even think about going to a store to get it. Product = great Customer service = almost not worth the coat

I love long coats since it helps keep your legs warm; but mall versions use thin material that tears too easy. Hearing this brand is known for using quality material is what made me get this. I used the same size as my current mall coat & I'm so glad I did..... perfect fit! This coat is incredibly comfy & cozy. The hood hugs your head & protects from the wind. The bottom 6 inches is closable with buttons only, which makes it wonderful for moving or driving without feeling constraint by a zipper. The outer material is a lot more thick & sturdy than my other long coats..... hopefully this means my dogs won't snag this material.
