The legs are a straighter cut or maybe girlfriend style on the legs and below your butt. The material feels like windbreaker material and id very thin, if you like this style and cut then they are probably a great travel pant for some people.

I ordered both the small and medium, and the small fit much better, so I'd say they run a little big. They have a hidden zipper pocket which is nice for traveling. These fit as it expected after looking at their size chart. Did not go larger as suggested by Amazon. They are a little loose, but very comfortable. A little thinner than more expensive athletic ankle pants, but I will wear these a lot. They washed up well.

I got these for travel, because they are a super lightweight fabric that dries fast and packs small. They are just loose enough to put a base layer underneath if I need it, and with a baselayer, they are as comfortable and warm as sweats, but look much nicer. The fabric makes them nicer than typical hiking pants, and can be casual with a tee shirt or dressed up with a nice blouse. My only complaint is the lack of zip pockets in the front.
