We've used stoneware before and appreciate its durability, the tradeoff being additional weight when compared to porcelain. The Trasa stoneware in charcoal surpasses our expectations! With over three months of near daily use, the set has no chips or scratches. We handwash the stoneware and cannot comment on dishwasher durability. Unlike our existing stoneware the Trasa stoneware does not get exceedingly hot in the microwave and the cups can be comfortably held by their handle and removed from the microwave. The units are clearly handmade and not cookie cutter. This adds to their appeal for us. The set is considerably more expensive than porcelain and we hope its artisanal looks and longevity make it a keeper.

We mainly use thin ceramic plates that have a glossy glaze on the surface. While they are light and easy to use, the glossiness wore out, and my wife and I wanted to try something different, something simple, modern, yet not dull. I came across this Artisan Stoneware Dinnerware 16-piece set, which was made in Portugal. We liked the color and the detail, the handmade aspects of it. The delivery didn't take too long. When we got the package, I was impressed by how well they were packaged and how heavy it were. In case you are not used to a dinnerware set, like we aren't, please check the dimensions and compare them to what you have. These are slightly bigger than what we are used to. Nonetheless, 4 Dinner Plates, 4 Salad Plates, 4 Pasta Bowls, and 4 Cereal Bowls are all impressive. They are not cookie-cutter, and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe! They are pretty hefty for my wife, whose wrists aren't the strongest, but she has no problem carrying one dinner plate filled with food with two hands. One big thing to note besides the not-so-uniform form factor is that since these are stoneware, you will see dimples and some imperfections as seen in my last photo with the red circle. These are completely normal, but if you can't stand this type of imperfection, please reconsider. In my opinion, if you are looking for solid dinnerware that is simplistic yet handmade and of good quality and that is not made in China, this set is worth it. It would be good for both Western and Eastern cuisine.

These look fantastic, somehow both polished and professional looking while also looking hand crafted. The fact that these are hand crafted and still dishwasher safe is pretty nice too. The slightly irregular shape is interesting to look at and gives the table a certain sort of flair - and that is going to be a love it or hate it kind of thing. The pictures don't do a great job of showing the irregularities and imperfections you can expect in a handmade product, but they are quite a bit more apparent in person, again your expectations and feelings about that will dictate if you like them or not. All of the pieces are as close to 'standard' size as you would expect, nothing is too small or seems oversized, and I do like the lip offered on the plates. For me the elephant in the room is the price - to get service for 8 would be a hearty cost especially compared to mass produced stoneware - that said for an artisan product the value is there.

We are loving this Trasa Home dinnerware. The black color is modern and definitely has a cool vibe. So far we have not encountered any issues with chipping or breaking so we're pleased that it seems pretty durable and we don't have to worry about loading it in the dishwasher. This set of dinnerware is a fabulous way to change things up at the dining table!
