  • Hot, hot, hot
I bought this water heater to replace the one in our food truck. It replaced the exact same one just a few years old. The old one actually still worked I just cracked a connection when I overtightened the nut.. I bought the same one as they are superb little workhorses, I really like this little water heater, good output and hot. ... show more

  • Great Outdoor Shower
This performed just as expected. This is the third or fourth one of these I have purchased. I give it five stars because I know its limitation and it works perfectly for what I need. I use it as an outdoor shower and love it but you want to make sure you take it inside as soon as it starts getting really cold outside. The copper tubing is very thin and will crack if water freezes inside. I've been a little lazy about this so it's no one's fault but my own! ... show more

  • Lost Long time Customer / Quality has dropped.
This is my 4th L5 in about 10 years. Always been very happy. When I first starting using this I had to turn the dial up much higher to produce heat. I live in Florida so the water doesn't get that cold. Maybe in the 60's. However, mid winter, I had it at full heat and had to decrease water flow just to stay warm. My thoughts were, it gets too hot in the summer so it maybe better then, so I kept it. Around 8 months into use, it randomly stopped igniting. I checked the batteries and changed tanks and seemed to correct the problems at first. Then started doing it again. Finally it would not ignite at all at 10 months. Contacted support and they told me to take front cover off and tap the solenoid with a screwdriver. It worked. They said they would send me the part. First of all, when did it become standard that we have to fix our item under warranty? I'm pretty good at this stuff but would be a challenge for many. I replaced the part and it worked for another 3 months and started doing again. By this time I was out of warranty and was not happy. Plus it was rusted much worse than my previous units. I contacted them again and they said "sorry, you're out of luck". I then said that I would never buy their product again and even showed past receipts of my other purchases. I had sent probably 10 emails explaining the intermittent problem, lack of heat and photos the rust. They got back to me and said if I wanted to return, (at my cost) they would fix it. So I boxed it up and returned at a cost of $23.00. A couple of weeks later I get the same rusty piece of S$&T back again. NO note inside. Had to go on line. "No repair" Worked fine. Amazing!!! Did they ever read my emails that this is intermittent. What a waste of time and money. Tech support and warranty is next to worthless. Did they ever check for heat temperature? Of course not. How hard would it be to put a new cover on it?????? Usually, rust is covered for more than one year. Why because they don't give a S#$T. They lost a loyal customer. In fact I was going to put a large unit for the entire house. Glad I saw their true worth. See photo. Old faded unit on left. Still works. New rusty unit on right. CRAP!!!!!!! Never threw away the old one because I was never happy with the new one. Old one still going. New update: I bought a Gasland outdoor shower heater about 6 months ago. About the same price with good reviews. So far very happy. It has a winter and summer mode, digital temperature display and most important it doesn’t blow out with even a strong gust. The Ecotemp would blow out even in the light wind conditions and you would have to restart constantly. ... show more

  • UNLIMITED HOT WATER!! Eccotemp L5 bringing comforts of home to the great outdoors!
We bought the Eccotemp L5 to bring along on our Overlanding Adventures (A.K.A. glorified car camping), for showering and washing dishes. No more needing to heat up a pot of water for washing up. As seen in the picture, we mounted it in a large case with a 12v water pump making the setup self contained and portable. Just add water and propane! The Eccotemp L5 does an amazing job heating the water. We've been running it on the lowest flow and lowest heat to conserve both water and propane, but the water is still coming out plenty warm and plenty fast. And if you want HOT-HOT water you've got it at the twist of the dial. We've got a group trip planned soon, and we are letting all our friends know they are welcome to hot showers in the wilderness, so long as they bring their own water! In addition, the included accessories, fittings, etc. give you a lot of options for plumbing the unit. Knowing I'd need a few extra fittings for my purposes I had mixed feelings about another prevalent brand of water heater, with reviews saying the correct fittings could be hard to find. Definitely not an issue with the Eccotemp L5, the pipe threads and sizes are all easy to find at most any hardware store. ... show more

  • Still Not Good in Breeze
This is my third unit and I think the worst (although advertised as best) in breezy situations. Also, without the shield, the unit gets more junk inside. It takes a few ignites to burn it all off.

  • Great equipment, a lifesaver
This is a replacement order as the first had ruptured tubing due to being exposed to freezing tempertures despite being drained. I suppose some water was trapped inside. Used it extensively during a whole house remodel and showered outside everyday for almost 8 months without any problems whatsoever. I did however repair the break in the old one with some copper epoxy (also purchased on Amazon) and it is functioning fine. The other is now a backup. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • 5 Stars
I have an old bear claw bathtub I saved from a remodel I did. I couldn't see throwing it. I dont have a hot tub and live on a big ranch in NM. I thought it would be nice to be able to have a hot bath under the stars at night, so I gathered some pallets I had laying around and built a base and sides. Then put a piece of plywood and layed it on top of the pallet base I nailed together. After securing the sides I coverd them with canvas to make it more private. I mounted the unit on the inside next to the tub made sure everything was hooked up properly which is extremely easy. (It comes with EXTRA parts IF needed) Turned it on and wow hot water in a cool little spot to chill with a bottle of wine under the stars. Absolutely impressed! 5 stars! ... show more

  • Not durable
Had an eco temp that worked great for years. This one worked reliably for about a dozen uses. Internal leaks, burner shuts down intermittently during use
