I bought this scale based on its features and excellent reviews here and after looking around extensively at a variety of scales, their feaures, and their reviews. I have had this scale for just 2 months now so I can't speak to long term reliability, just current performance and usability. So far, it is easily one of the best items I have purchased and a very good value for the money at the price I paid of $36.95 w/free shipping on Amazon. Great accuracy and precision. Very good size. Excellent easy to read display. Wide range of measureable weights to the nearest 0.2 pounds. Excellent customer service with follow up email by the seller to be sure that I was happy with it and having no problems. First, I should say that I set up the scale in a flat area (as recommended) on linoleum. I compared it to my old spring scale and it was within a pound or two. (The old scale was a well rated spring scale that despite an XL dial was hard to read, never fully stabilized for a clear precise read, and was difficult to get full foot placement despite the scales XL size). I also compared it on one occasion to my weight at the doctor's office and it was within a pound. I tried getting on and off repeatedly on a number of occasions immediately or within several minutes after it gave a weight and reset and it always gives the same weight so it clearly gives consistent readings (as long as I do nothing that changes my weight between readings). Another reviewer suggested that it was programmed to repeat the same weight if remeasured within a certain period, so I experimented. On numerous occasions I would weigh myself and than immediately drink varying amounts water or take a dump and weigh myself again and my weight would change in increments of 0.2 pounds that appeared to reflect these weight changes. It also easily showed my water weight changes after an hour or more of sweating exercise - which could be as much as three pounds. I did not try to confirm with known weights whether the scale is accurate throughout its range up to 440 pounds but it seems to be accurate in my weight range, which on this scale has been between 220 to 240 pounds. I did test the lower range with hand weights. With a 2 pound weight on either side (to represent small feet to the sensors) each time it registered 0.0, so it appears it won't register weights of 4 pounds or less. When I tried a 3 pound weight on either side it did register 6.0 pounds exactly so I assume that this is its lower limit and that it is reasonably accurate at lower weights and would also be a good scale for children. I do like the size of the scale although I would have preferred a bit more length. I have size 13 (US) feet and have to position my feet carefully on the scale so that my heel and toes are fully on (I have about a spare 1/4" front and rear). If you have feet larger than size 14 (US) you might have to have your toes extend over the front of the scale and keep your weight between your heels and the balls of your feet. The width is more than adequate for just about anyone. Good luck trying to find a larger household scale anywhere. The large attractive blue backlit display is perfect with nice large numbers with good contrast that are very easy to see in any light. The display also stays on for about 10 seconds after you get off the scale so that if you have a large amount of belly fat that gets in the way of seeing the display while you are on it (or have really bad eyesight) you have plenty of time to view the reading after you get off it. About 6 weeks after the scale arrived the company sent an email asking me to contact them if I had any problems with the scale, included a summary of best practices for operating the scale, provided a support contact number and requested feedback on Amazon. Since it has been such and exceptional item I thought it well worth the time in putting in a review. ... show more

Many users have written many reviews. Short version is I love this scale. In addition, the company that distributes this scale is a top notch organization. Read on for more details ... I had a scale that broke. I hate scale shopping, it's like mattress or tire shopping. You never really know whether or not it's a good product until long after you've gotten it and by then it too late to do anything about it. Often times, I will make a product selection based on Amazon sales and reviews. This scale consistently is rated as the Number 1 purchased Digital Scale by consumers. I read the reviews and most were very glowing. As usual, a few people that received defective merchandise unfairly hated on the product or company, even when the company attempted to rectify the situation. I usually ignore those that complain about defective merchandise. Sometimes a lemon is missed, deal with it. I have been a member of the Amazon community for a very long time, and I shamefully admit that this was the first review that I have written. I want people to know about the product and the company. I am a heavy person so I was looking for a scale that went above the 300-400 pound limit. I am a big guy so I was looking for a scale with a larger footprint. I have a large belly so I was looking for a scale that would display the weight for a longer time so I can step off and still see it. This scale fits all these requirements, rates high with Amazon users, was available with Prime shipping and finally, did not do all the other crazy stuff like BMI, allow settings for a dozen people, transmit the info to some app or watch or computer. Just a simple scale that I can use to track my weight as I begin my journey to lose my weight, due to many reasons. I purchased this scale on May 18, 2012. This scale was used every day. It looks good, works remarkably well and became a permanent fixture in my bathroom. A few weeks ago, after taking a large dose of necessary medication, my equilibrium was off and I passed out walking through my bathroom. I sustained minor injuries and broke several things in my bathroom, which included the scale. The next day I stepped on my scale and it did not measure my weight. I went through normal troubleshooting with no positive outcome. I looked at my paperwork and saw that the warranty was a two year warranty and had expired. I contacted the company via e-mail, explained how I was responsible for damaging the scale, and asked if parts were available to repair my scale. To my surprise, I received an email from the Vice President with some additional troubleshooting which might help the scale to reset. I tried all of the troubleshooting and the scale still would not calculate my weight. Then the most amazing thing happened. The Vice President asked me to return my scale, which was out of warranty and was damaged by my actions, and told me that the scale would be looked at by a technician and repaired free of charge. There is no other company that I can recall that would repair a product, free of charge, that was out of warranty and the damage was not the manufacturers fault, and, without arguing with me or harassing me about how the scale was damaged. Over the next several day the company, EatSmart, rectified the situation far exceeding my expectation. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone. If I should happen to need another product that is distributed by this company, regardless of the price difference, I would not hesitate to make a purchase from this company. By the simple customer service actions of the EatSmart employees, that is unparalleled in this day and age, they have ensured that I am a loyal customer to their brand and products. I have send the EatSmart Vice President a thorough letter of my gratitude and now choose to share my experience with the product and the company I purchased it from.
