EDIT: I was able to "fix" these locks by disassembling them and lightly filing the tab on the lockout switches to give it a bit of a ramp to engage the channel it slides into. This work is visible in the photos I've attached, as well as the channel the tab locks into in the photo with the bolt assembly in the background. There are three, each aligned with a small drilled depression. Not changing my rating. Excellent lock, and it now works as it should, but I should not have had to disassemble it and file down bits to get to this point. Original review: After my car was broken into and one of my spare keys was stolen, I decided I should replace my locks. I have/had the first generation of Esilock and they have been fantastic. I went looking for a 1:1 replacement, but couldn't find a two-pack (ensuring common keys for front and back door) of the same model, so I decided to spend the extra few bucks and get the newest version. Dead lock Accidental lock prevention Sounds good, right? One of the two locks showed up with a mounting plate with a mis-tapped thread and a stripped screw that dropped out when I took it out of the box. This would have normally meant I would have to return the set, but I was able to reuse the mounting plate from the previous lock. Then I got them mounted and the little plastic switches for the dead lock and outdoor lock protection are COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. These switches should engage with little effort. Instead, I have bruises on the tips of my fingers from trying to find the magic press-and-slide motion that gets these to work. If you work on it for a while, you can eventually get them to move (except for one of the switches, that just doesn't move at all), but it's so much work as to be impractical. I'm going to remove them tomorrow (done with it for today) and oil them to see if it makes a difference. Really disappointed that the quality of the lock doesn't carry over to the quality of these switches that are a buy-up feature. ... show more

The steel parts will no doubt last a lifetime. The selling point for this lock is the anti-intruder switch. I was disappointed to discover that the most important part, which is the anti-intruder switch, is made of plastic. It is questionable how long the plastic switch will last. I was also disappointed the item I received was a return. Not to mention there were no instructions. This company needs to clean up its quality control and re design/replace the plastic switch with a metal one. ... show more

Functionally, the lock is fantastic. Works exactly as described, locks securely and twist to lock external feature is very handy. Cosmetically, there are engraved "Easilok" logos on both the inside and outside lock housings that are machined and paint-filled. However the engravings on my locks are placed too high so the tops of the letters are cut off slightly and the paint fill is only on the bottom 2/3 of the logo. Not ideal, but not enough to return. Specifically ordered the schlage keyed option to have my other schlage locks re-keyed to match. Unfortunately this lock uses a smaller pin size than us typical in US schlage locks. The locksmith told me there would be no way to make the schlage key from these fit a US schlage lock,

    • Really is EASY !

The build quality of this lock is pretty good but they cut a few corners. The bolt itself is a bit of a disappointment. Lots of play, lacking a hardened core, not as large of diameter as most locks in this class. The rest of the lock is outstanding. Excellent materials, good build quality and nice finish. The lock comes with a rubber gasket on both sides, which is a nice feature. The lock cylinder on the Schlage key models uses a 6 pin key. Install was easy, no problems and the lock is solid. For the money, I would like to see a little more quality in the bolt. Overall, this is a good lock. EDIT: I’ve been using these locks for a little over a month and I am very satisfied with these locks. The lock cylinders have broken in a bit and the keys operate smoother than when new. These are FAR more convenient to use than a standard deadbolt that require a key to lock from the outside. The locks operate beautifully. If you’re on the fence about these due to the cost – Don’t Be. The convenience is worth the cost. UPDATE: Now with about 10 months of use to look back on, I have to say these are the BEST deadbolt locks I've ever used. The build quality is top notch, the locks work perfectly and they are incredibly easy to use. I wish I had purchased these sooner. ... show more
