I really liked this bed, for one or two, for about 7 months. It opened easily (with two manhandling it) and though I am a little chemically sensitive and have a strong sense of smell, it did not have a noticable order. Just to be sure, I left it a week airing before using it. It was super comfortable and supportive. I tend toward back problems without firmness, and have never had any with this bed. And I'm 6' and 190 lbs. I was used to a water bed foam combo for decades, and like the give and support that offered. But I'm done moving water beds. This bed, with the individual coils flexes very nicely with changing sleeping positions. The coils did feel like they poked a little, could feel it through the foam, but I put a 3" down alternative topper over the bed, and that solved that. There is plenty of room for a topper with the mattress height. I got the 12 inch thick one. However, after 7 months, I started to get sore shoulders and a sore hip. At 8 months, I see the bed is kind of caving in the middle and on the edges where I get in and out, but if I move around where I sleep, it evens out. Obviously you cannot do this with 2 routinely sleeping in it. I am now going to try adding a latex topper, and we'll see if that fixes things. So, a good buy for the price, much less expensive than many comparable beds, but it may have to be replaced frequently too. ... show more

This is my favorite bed out of all the beds I’ve ever had. I tried different beds when I was looking around. My parents have a purple mattress and I like this one more. I’ve had it for 2 years and I love it. The only negative I would say is on the sides it’s easy to feel the springs. It doesn’t affect sleeping at all but it’s strange to me. ... show more

I've only used this bed for about 15 days so far. I am around 6'2". The first thing I noticed is this bed is shorter than my old queen size mattress. I noticed it right away with all the extra room in my platform bed. Guessing at least 3 inches shorter. If I were a back sleeper I'd be really concerned about this. Since I sleep on my side my feet do not hang over. Speaking of sleeping on my side. I always had shoulder pain on my old mattress but not with this new mattress. It's the main reason I purchased it. So for shoulder pain it's been great! However it might be softer than I expected because now I get aches in my hips which I believe is from sinking into the mattress. Time will tell as it seems to get softer each night. The good thing is I have another month to return it if this mattress is the right choice. I wish it had a longer trial period like most mattresses. Another thing to note is you can feel the springs on the side of the mattress. It only bothered me when I first noticed it and does not seem to get in the way when on the edge of the mattress. I hope this review helps some of you make a decision one way or the other. **Update. I just moved into a new place a couple months ago and was in the market for a new bed as I had left my old pillow top queen behind, after much searching I decided to give the Early Bird 12" Hybrid mattress a try since it met my criteria of required softness (medium plush), reasonable price, and miraculously is made in the USA. The bed arrived 2 days earlier than initially scheduled which was awesome, packaging was in perfect condition and aside from being a little awkward for one person to get up a few steps and into the bedroom it rolled out and unwrapped with ease. I only have the bed about 18 hours to "grow" before sleeping on it but I checked it with a tape measure in a few spots and it was all fully expanded. The first couple nights my body didn't know what to think as this is my first memory foam style bed and it was almost to comfortable lol. By the end of the week I was sleeping like a baby and the shoulder pain I used to experience with my old mattress a thing of the past, I'm a side sleeper so for me that alone is worth the cost. The foam layer on top is very soft but in the best way possible and allows you to feel lightly cradled without being stuck in a marshmallow. My only complaint is that the memory foam top is even and flush with the coil springs on one side and about an inch short on the other side, so if you run your hand along the top edge of the mattress you can feel the top edges of the coil springs where the foam is cut short. It kinda seems like the top was a little bit small and the overall dimensions of the bed are slightly under the usual queen size of 80x60 by about an inch each way, not a deal breaker by any means but the top being small is a little bit annoying if you're the type that likes to let a leg hang off of the bed and ya can feel the springs. ... show more

Ordered this mattress and it finally came several days late. Unboxed the mattress and let sit for the 72 hours it said. Moved it into the bedroom, put new mattress pad and clean sheets on it and anticipated bed time. Needless to say, my couch is more comfortable. The cooling gel layer that it says it has must have been missed. Got up twice to turn the house heat down as I was hot (hadn't had to get up to turn heat down with our old mattress) Feels comfy when you first get into bed but after an hour I tossed and turned the rest of the night. Don't get to close to the edge either or it collapses and will dump you out on the floor!! Very disappointed and a waste of $400. ... show more
