This ice maker is horrible! The ice does not fall in individual cubes, it falls in full ice sheets. Every time you want ice, you have to use an ice pick to break the sheets up. The sheets are thin so when you add your liquid, they melt super fast. The machine itself is extremely loud, imagine your dishwasher running all day. It constantly makes ice, which is good, I guess, because you always have ice but like I said, it's loud. I've only had it for 4 months now, and it's the worst purchase I have made for our new home. We will eventually toss this and just spend the money on the name brand. ... show more

I'M REHABBING A PENTHOUSE IN FLORIDA AND WANTED A KITCHEN AID ICE MACHINE LIKE I HAVE HAD IN MANY PRIOR HOMES. DUE TO CURRENT SUPPLY LINE PROBLEMS THE KITCHENAID HAD A 6-8 MONTH LEADTIME! DID RESEARCH AND DEEMED THIS TO BE A DECENT ALTERNATIVE. THE DUURA MAKES A LOT OF ICE. IT IS QUIETER THAN THE KITCHEN AID WHICH BANGS CLANKS AND PURRS WHILE TURNING OUT PERFECT CLEAR ICE. IT IS ABOUT $1,000 CHEAPER THAN THE KITCHEN AID. BUT...IT MAKES ICE IN PERFORATED PADS THAT SORT OF BREAK WHEN DROPPING INTO THE BIN, BUT NOT VERY MUCH. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE SUPPLIED METAL SCOOP AND SMASH THE PADS INTO SMALLER PIECES. THE ICE IS CLEAR AND GOOD SIZED CUBES AFTER BREAKING APART. Our GE ice maker bit the dust so we needed a replacement unit. We decided to give this unit a try after reading the reviews. It was ready to go right out of the box. It came with a new supply hose and a drainage hose. We swapped the door hinges and the instructions were readily available to walk ya through it. This unit can be hooked up and running with crescent wrench and screw driver only if you need to swap the door open. It was producing ice within an hour. Initially it was loud when the cubes hit the empty bin but soon quietened down. Within a matter of 12 hours or less it was completely full of ice. It has been in service for several months and no complaints. It makes ice quickly and it is much more quiet than Scottsman and KitchenAid icemakers we have had in the past. It is also way less expensive! We will see how it does over the long haul. The others I have mentioned lasted a long time but you hated them so much you wished that they would die 🤣 Do yourself a favor and get the version with the drain pump. Bought this ice maker. It came damaged on the side. I kept it since the huge dent wouldn't be noticed between the cabinets. It worked OK for a month. The ice almost always came out stuck together. It was a very loud machine. It quit working after 6 months. I really regret buying this junk. I see why it is now on sale. STAY AWAY ... show more
