I have several Duratech tools, and I've been pleased with the quality of all of them so far. This jigsaw is actually better in most ways than my old, cheap corded jigsaw, which is saying something because corded tools are usually better.     • Solid value for the money
With a bathroom remodel coming up, I recently upgraded many of my, decades-old, power tools. For the tools I will use every day I chose Makita. In my workshop, they have proved to be remarkably durable and reliable. For me, a jigsaw is an occasional-use item, so I was looking for a tool that would do the job at a lower price point. ( Full disclosure: As a vine reviewer I received this tool for no upfront cost. We pay income and SS taxes based on the retail price so, ultimately about 27% to 37% of retail.). While I was vaguely familiar with Duratech hand tools, I’d not encountered any of their power tools. I did some research. Duratech is manufactured by Hangzhou Great Star Industrial Co. in China. They are the largest hand tool vendor in Asia. Their house brands include Great Star, SK, Duratech and others. They also own ShopVac, Miller’s Falls Tools, Arrow Fasteners, and Pony Jorgensen Clamps. Big company, been around since the 90s so, worth a shot. The Jigsaw is as described in the Amazon listing, comes in a decent plastic case with metal closures, It includes a guide bar, vacuum attachment, charger, seven blades, and, happily, a 20v 4.0 Ah battery. It’s thoughtfully designed, ergonomically, and functionally. While it’s not a brushless motor, it’s powerful enough to slice through a 2” X 4” without breaking stride. It has an LED light that is easily bright enough for my old eyes, a reversible blower to keep dust away from the cut, a quick change blade mechanism that functions without issue, and an orbit adjustment for different materials and types of cuts. It also has a conveniently notched rotating base that will adjust both directions in 15º increments from 0º to 45º. The variable speed functions smoothly throughout its range. I particularly like the orbit adjustment which allows you to set it for fine, clean, and slower cuts to more rapid and easily maneuverable cutting for tight curves. It’s also beneficial for different materials. As this is a new product on the market I can’t speak to its longevity but, in my testing and minimal use so far, I’ve encountered no red flags. Should that change I’ll update my review. At roughly a third of the cost of some of the better-known major brands, for my purposes, I expect this will be a solid value and a good addition to my shop.     • Wasn't sure when I ordered it
I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this jigsaw, But I was building a tree house for my daughters and was far away from my shop, so I needed a cordless option and didn't want to drop $200-$300 for a big name version. I'm so glad I didn't, this is a fantastic jigsaw and a great value at $82. I wish it used the same battery as my other tools, but not a big deal to plug it in and charge it when I need cordless cutting.     • Works as expected
I've been using this saw for about a month. I have charged it a couple times and cut different types of wood. It is working just fine and as I'd expect a jigsaw to. Battery life seems good - I took a scrap piece of 3/4" plywood and made over 10' of cuts before the battery indicator dropped a bar. As a home/hobby woodcrafter, a jigsaw is a tool I use regularly but not heavily, so the single battery should be fine. A jigsaw is one of the tools where a cord gets tangled/in the way often, so if I used a jigsaw more heavily I would have replaced my old corded one a long time ago. The dust tube is an accessory I won't use extensively, however if cutting things like sheetrock or cement board it will be a nice option. This one is quite a bit heavier than the corded one, and if I used it overhead a lot, that might be an issue, but the weight actually provides a bit more stability and maybe cuts down on the vibration some. This is the second cordless tool I've gotten from Duratech, and both seem to be heavy duty, quality tools. Time will tell, but being as heavy as they are I'm certain they do not have a bunch of cheap plastic parts that aren't going to last. ... show more

I have been using a Bosch corded jigsaw for many years. It’s been a trooper, but sometimes I find myself in a situation where a cordless version would be better suited, and I decided to give this Duratech a try. So far, I am very pleased with this unit, and it performs just as well as my Bosch. I was also pleasantly surprised by the included robust storage case. I’m glad this comes with a sawdust blower collector, so that I can direct sawdust away from my workspace and even into a hose for better breathing. It is powerful enough that it doesn’t easily bog down, and vibration is on par with my Bosch. It is neither lightweight nor heavy, weighing in at around 5.25-pounds with the battery attached. The 4.0Ah battery is large enough to last long enough for a basic DIYer project. I was hopeful it was the same battery format as my DeWalt or Kobalt tools, but alas they are not compatible. Fortunately, it appears that DuraTech sells additional 2.0Ah and 4.0Ah batteries on Amazon if you need more and always want to have a fresh one in the charger. I am also glad that the battery has a battery meter on it so that you know when it is getting low. The built-in LED work light and dust cover are nice add-ons that set those apart from some other budget models out there. The blade replacement lever mechanism isn’t quite as large or easy to use as my Bosch, but it is not that difficult either. At less than half of the equivalent name brand options out there, I feel that the Duratech jigsaw is a great value. ... show more
