The springs on my garage door one broke so I had to replace them they were 20 years old. So I looked around at the local stores and no one had the ones I needed in stock so I purchased these they are one step heavier than what I had but they worked great just make sure you’re careful when you’re tensioning, use the proper tensioning bars. you can get seriously hurt if you don’t know what you’re doing so get a professional to install these if you’ve never done it before. And they’re made in USA that is very important to me. I did 1/4 turn per foot of garage door height, tighten them down and when I open the garage door it would stay open at halfway didn’t have to readjust. ... show more

    • Spring Perfect - Great Value - Winding Rods Come Up Short

Since the spring is sold by the manufacturer and not Amazon the shipping took a little longer. I ordered on a Saturday and it arrived on Friday. Not bad, but worth mentioning. Free shipping was a plus. The spring looked exactly like the one I was replacing, so that was reassuring. I studied how-to videos on Youtube so I had a level of comfort installing the spring. I took my time and completed the job in about 2 1/2 hours. I'm good for 15-20 years now (10,000 cycles). My only complaint is the winding winding rods. Most all the rods I saw on Amazon were 18 inches. Some were 16 inches. The included rods with my order were only 12 inches. I had to wind the spring 31 quarter turns. It was struggle after 20 turns. An extra 6 inches of leverage would have really helped. Overall, a good deal. I spent $40 instead of paying a tech $200. ... show more

Only issue is with the packaging...... 1st set ordered was never received because FedEx said the box was damaged in transit. 2nd set did arrive......but the box was shredded. Great set up and install. Looks great and worked great. Only gripe was the the winding bars are way too short. Only 12 inches! For the torque needed to set the tension you really need the extra leverage of longer bars. Also for safety, please consider lengthening the bars for your customers.
