  • Early review: Thumbs up👍👍
Size: 13 Narrow Color: Grey
this reviews probably a little early but I am very happy with them so far. I have a very narrow foot. It is very difficult for me to buy shoes that fit. These came in a B- width, and they fit really well. I can wear in a width and some shoes, so I do not know if they run a little more narrow but they feel great on my feet. They are not too stiff like some hiking boots have had. They seem very durable and well-made. The weird part is you cannot buy them directly from Dunn Hill because they do not have any stock and the size that I needed but I was able to get them directly from Amazon from their online store which I do not quite understand but I am glad I was able to. I like the appearance. They seem to have great traction. They have great toe box protection. They seem like they would function great for both hiking and just as a general "low top" work boot. They come in standard width and extra- wide too, but if you have a narrow foot, you should take a look at these if you can get them in a B-width ... show more

  • Great boots
Size: 16 Color: Green/Grey
Purchased for my son who is on his feet walking all day through a hospital (hard floors) and he felt these boots were comfortable, no breaking in. He did add his own inserts to make them even more comfortable. The fact they come in a Size 16 is a plus. They are expensive but worth the price due to availability of his Large size. ... show more

  • For fit, the jury is still out....
Size: 7.5 X-Wide Color: Brown
So, I have a wide foot, yet not a big foot, so I came searching here for any hiking solution that caters to my "pork chop" feet, haha. Local stores don't carry any options, which leaves to me hit and miss online hunting. I tried some lower cost Skechers, to no avail, so I thought I'd spend a bit more and see what that brings. I'm wearing them at present, to see if I can break them in enough to try on an extended hike. Oddly, the heel area is a bit too wide, yet the area across the the widest part of my foot doesn't fit, at all, like a true "wide" shoe. It's very tight. So, I deployed my shoe stretchers last night, and, by this morning, they were widened enough to wear without discomfort, but I wish they felt as perfect as the many reviews I read on here. The heel is not so wide to cause slippage, and the area across the "chest" of the foot (where the toes start) is not tight enough to cause pain (after using the shoe stretchers for 12 hours) so, no deal breakers as yet, although I had to take out the insoles they came with, to allow for a better fit. With the insoles, they really are too tight. So, I replaced them with the cut-to-fit Dr. Scholl's insoles. The exterior soles seem quite grippy and should serve for basic hiking needs, and I am not seeing any issues with manufacturing defects or anything, so I'm assuming they will be waterproof as advertised. I will update back here once I've worn them for a few days, and, hopefully, they work out enough to test for a day of hiking, since I have no hiking footwear at the moment. I'm disappointed in the fit, however. The too-wide heel area and too-narrow front area is a frustration. I'm hoping I can "wear them in" so it's not a waste of 140 bucks. Glad I invested in the shoe stretchers. This will be yet another pair of shoes saved by being able to widen them out, if these wind up being okay. I do like how lightweight they are and, thus far, just wearing them to work, they are not feeling too hot, so, if they don't cause foot pain, they seem like a win. They also look great. So, I really want to like them, which means I'm giving them a chance. Wish me luck! Hope this helps. Thanks for reading. :) ... show more

  • Extra Wide! Yes!
Size: 13 X-Wide Color: Slate
The only hiking boots I could find that are extra wide. They are comfortable for my extremely wide forefoot. All other hiking shoes cause the ball of my foot to burn after a mile. These are not robust boots, but certainly do well for easy to moderately technical hikes.

  • Perfect fit, awesome quality.
Size: 13 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
I am 215 lbs with hard to fit feet (13 4E) and I love hiking. An injury to my lower leg left me with permanent nerve damage and a challenge to find orthotics and footwear for the past 40 years or so. These boots are amazing in fit and quality. I purchased a pair in May of 2017 and tested them out around town. These are the kind of shoes that when you slip your foot into for the first time you know right away that they are "the ones". Subsequent hikes in the Oregon and Washington Cascades gave me the confidence to take them on treks in the Alps and Himalayas. Carried a twenty pound pack on steep up and downhills are no problem. No blisters ever. The insoles that they came with slip out and I can use my custom orthotics instead. The lacing is quick and logical and allows one to adjust tension for up or down hill. I wear merino wool socks with a thin liner over. A sock company in New England makes the best socks on the planet. Good match for these boots. With several hundred miles of trails on these there is no sign of any wear or degradation. The soles are not overly aggressive but provide excellent grip on rock and dry trails. The tread does not hold dirt or mud and self cleans. On very muddy or slippery trails one may want a boot with more lugs. The waterproofness worked for awhile stepping through water several inches deep but eventually this feature broke down slightly as can be expected with the abuse I gave these on the trails. They are also very good looking and can be worn around town. I really appreciate shoe makers who cater to the ends of the bell curve on foot size. Have been a New Balance fan for years for this reason. Also own New Balance 990 V4. Fantastic shoe that I will review as well. One other thing. I found out that boot laces become imbedded with grime which causes friction through the lace lugs making it difficult to adjust the lace tension. A new pair of laces for about two dollars in a shop in Kathmandu was like having a new set of tires. I washed the old pair and kept them in my pack as a spare. All in all would definitely buy another pair but I don't think I can wear these out. ... show more

  • Maybe you will have better luck.
Size: 12 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
So here it is, this would be a 5 STAR rating for me but, I bought these in May for a trip to Alaska at the end of August. I wore them a few times around the house to make sure that they were comfortable and no problems with rubbing or support problems. I take them on the cruise and on excursion days they performed flawlessly, one of the best hikers I have ever tried. Only saw one day of rain, kept my feet totally dry all day and let them dry over night completely before I wore them again. Now here is the crux, they day of my return they have separated at the stitching of the top and side leather below the grommet for the laces. Past my time for a return and can't see on how to exchange for a new pair. I think that these are excellent, I just got a bad pair. So Amazon if you can help, I would really appreciate it. If not, then buyer beware. ... show more

  • Best ever!
Size: 9 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
I can't say enough about how much I love these shoes. I purchased them locally after seeing reviews of both these and the New Balance country walkers, because I was worried about sizing issues. I am a very difficult fit with 7.5 4E feet, orthotics, high instep and more. I have never had a pair of walking or cold weather boots that I could wear comfortably for more than a few hours. If it wasn't the rubbing below my little toe, it was irritating my ankle or hurting my instep. I bought these shoes yesterday morning and haven't taken them off yet except, reluctantly, to get in bed. They are incredibly comfortable. The only adjustment I made was substituting a flat white Dr. Scholl's insole for the one provided. I hadn't bought Dunhams in a while because of fit problems. The sizing is right, maybe a drop short, but they quickly started to conform to my foot, after some sole flexing, and feel great. Nice wide foot box. The laces are very adjustable and the ankle height is perfect. They keep my feet nice and warm on these winter days and the bottom looks to be completely waterproof, but no tests to this point. Best of all, these shoes are very good looking, a benefit that usually does not come in my size. Tomorrow, I am throwing out the several pair of my "3 hour max" shoes and boots. These are my new favorites and I am grateful to Dunham for providing me with style, fit and protection all in one shoe. THREE WEEK UPDATE: I have now had these boots for 3 weeks of a bad NY winter. At one point, I wore them for 10 out of 11 days. So here is an update. They are still the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and I love them. Several people have commented on how good looking they are. When does that happen to me? However you should know two things. First, my feet still get cold on the really cold days, but never wet. That's a good thing. Second, is that they still are a bit short, but that hasn't affected my overall comfort. My big toe sometimes touches the top, and I might consider a bigger size that would accommodate thicker socks too. But my fear is that I'll get that wrong size rubbing next to my little toe that I always seem to get when I size up. So, I'm sticking with these and very happy. ONE YEAR UPDATE: As we moved into a new season, I decided to bite the bullet and try a larger size. Good choice. These fit just as well and are a bit longer. I am very happy, and confident that I will have these for several seasons. ... show more

  • Ok shoe for wide feet but issue with durability and manufacturer support. Ok shoe for wide feet but issue with durability and manufacturer support.
Size: 11 X-Wide Color: Brown
So far these have been great! I ordered the X-Wide which translates to a 4E. There is plenty of room in the toe box both width and height. I got these a couple of days before going on a 2 week trip to Ireland. They were comfortable from the beginning with very little break in time. I always have such are hard time with show, not only do I have a wide foot but also thick, especially in the arch area. I could never wear a slip on shoe, it's that bad. They are not a heavy boot and feel very comfortable when walking/hiking. They can be a little slippery on smooth wet surfaces. Any how, the only thing to see now is how durable they are. The above was written last year, but apparently never submitted. So the above pair lasted about a year, but shortly after constant wear, they developed a squeak in the right shoe. I recently purchased another pair 03/29/2026 and they too have a pronounced squeak in the right shoe. This is on all surfaces, so it's not the rubble on the floor, but probably a support inside the sole. I was going to try to remedy it, but this pair has started coming apart. I reached out to Rockport and they were no help, since I purchased on Amazon. I can't recommend these any more nor would I purchase again. ... show more
