  • They work.
Size: 5A Color: 2 Pairs
I just needed some cheap sticks for the video game Rock Band. They are more than adequate for that purpose. For actual use to play real instruments please consult your band director or an experienced percussionist.

  • Lightweight maple sticks!
Size: 5a Color: 4 Pairs
I’m always looking for lightweight maple drumsticks because they are generally harder to find than their hickory counterparts and ai prefer them. I picked this 4 pack up and have been using them for a few weeks. These are standard 5a length/width sticks. They are astonishingly lightweight when compared to other maple sticks of the same size. I love them for playing quieter or faster material, or when I want a light touch to match the material. So far they have proven to be durable despite repeated use. The finish on the sticks is slightly shinier than I’m used to which makes the sticks a little sticky feeling, which is why I took off one star. After a few sessions the sticky feeling mostly wears off. Overall I’m very pleased with these sticks, especially for the price, and would recommend them for the reasons I listed above, and also because I think these would work well for younger players, students, or jazz players. ... show more

  • For PRACTICE PAD use ONLY!
Size: 5a Color: 4 Pairs
The media could not be loaded. ***DO NOT use these on actual drums or cymbals: they may be destroyed in seconds!*** I knew after touching the first pair of sticks straight out of the packaging that these would never last beyond my soft practice pad. So, why my 3/5 rating instead of 1/5? To be clear, these 5A sticks are advertised in their title as “Drumstick for Kids and Beginners,” and with that in mind, I would use these for beginners using practice pads (without hard rims) and perhaps electronic drums with mesh & pads. Consider my responses following some of the statements made in the item listing’s description: • “Crafted from dense maple wood for durability and balanced tone.” Response: These sticks are light, not even close to the dense maple found in big brand sticks that would last much longer (and cost a whole lot more). • “ Each drumstick is calibrated to an identical weight and uniform wood tone, ensuring visual/tactile consistency during performances” Response: See my images for weight measurement on a basic scale, which I made several times for each stick to ensure consistency but posted a single image of each and the combined pair. They are not equal, but are within a gram of each other, close enough for cheap beginner sticks. While the description doesn’t mention straightness, these are actually some of the straightest off-brand sticks I’ve seen. • “5A: Ideal for rock/pop/jazz agility; 5B: Optimized for metal/hard rock power” and “Precisely standards: 5A for agile control, 5B for powerful strikes, Compliant drumstick specifications” Response: The message here is to pay attention to what you’re getting. These are 5A sticks, not 5B. Granted, they should be sturdier and more solid than they are, but it appears to me the message is trying to convey something like *play lighter, not harder* being negative about the quality of the sticks; on the other hand, beginners wouldn’t be able to read into that message. With that in mind, users SHOULD NOT use these on real cymbals or hard rims of any kind (see my video where I use a practice pad with hard plastic rims and put big dents in the sticks after even one rimshot). • “Hand-polished surface reduces hand fatigue and maintains a secure grip during extended play” Response: These sticks have little divots throughout as if they’ve already been lightly used (obvious to the eye but very hard to capture in images and video — I tried to point out a couple spots in the video). They’ve obviously not been handled with the best care in their machining & packaging, but the light and less dense wood doesn’t help in that regard. So, keeping the title and descriptions in mind, here’s my extended conclusion: As far as off-brand sticks go for an absolute-first-time-beginner kid with a practice pad and parents wondering if the kid is actually going to stick with it, these are fine. $9 for four pair is a good value for drum instructors to have on hand to give to such kids. However, if an initial investment has been made on any drum(s) for the beginner, I’d recommend getting a more reputable and solid pair of sticks. Consider your goal and choose your sticks accordingly. These are PRACTICE sticks for BEGINNER KIDS and nothing more. (For reviewing purposes, I used a marker to label each pair and stick, as can be seen in the images and video.) ... show more

  • Great drumsticks work well
Size: 5a Color: 4 Pairs
As a musician, I am very pleased with these drumsticks. They are made of a quality maple wood. They feel great and work just as expected. They are standard size drumsticks, and they would work especially well for beginners and intermediate players. The drumming sound quality is very good. The four sets make it nice to be able to have multiple people play at the same time. They are a great value for the money. ... show more

  • Gift suitable for the young percussionist.
Size: 5a Color: 4 Pairs
These sticks are very light weight and would work best in the hands of a child or someone (like me) using them on a digital drum set. They are nicely turned, finished, and the graphics are well done. Sticks are straight. Given the limitations, I think they offer excellent value for money. Gift suitable for the young percussionist. ... show more
