I absolutely LOVE this bird feeder. We are avid bird watchers and have gone through quite a few bird feeders. I was skeptical about the "squirrel proof" but IT IS! There is a battery operated mechanism that when something heavier than a bird touches the outer edge it spins! I have seen our VERY smart squirrels baffled. I am also a nature and animal lover so I only wanted something that would not actually hurt the squirrels. They do get plenty of seeds that drop! The birds love the feeder. I have seen all sizes from chickadees to cardinals. Not sure if blue jays would set off the mechanism. Our morning doves eat the seeds on the ground. It is easy to add seed - just twist open the top and pour! I hung it from a metal hook pole and works great!I have seen 6-7 birds at a time on it. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. A picture is worth a 1000 words! I was so happy when I saw this feeder in action! This feeder is a beast, squirrels can’t hang on too long since it spins and then the squirrels fall off. Glad I have some bushes below, because that’s where the squirrels fall. I would periodically wait by the window, hoping to capture a video of when a squirrel was going to jump. It took awhile but finally got one for my review. So far, I’ve witnessed two squirrels attempting, jumping and then being flung off the feeder. The second time, one squirrel was below eating corn and the other jumping onto the feeder, and not being successful. I do buy squirrel food, you can see the corn in the bottom right of the video. Even though they had the corn, they still tried to launch onto the feeder, but haven’t seen any squirrels who can access any bird seed. It’s easy to assemble, insert the bottom piece that has the battery and twist to lock. To add food, lift the green part up, add food and then push down green top to secure it in place. When you receive the feeder, the battery is located inside the feeder with the AC adapter plug to charge it with. Lift up the green top and remove. The instructions say to charge the battery for a least 2 hours before using it. There is an on/off switch on the bottom part of the feeder. Turn off while charging it. This feeder has a huge capacity! Feed capacity is approx 5 lbs of feed. I took a photo of it next to my front door to show how tall it is. It’s made of metal and heavy plastic. The top doesn’t completely come off, so cleaning it is a little challenging. The squirrels and bigger birds used to deplete my bird seed (sunflower seeds) so quickly. But now, only the small birds are able to use the feeder so the feed lasts way longer. This feeder spins on the bottom, but also has a weigh mechanism so that if large birds attempt to feed, the feeder holes close. This feeder is expensive, but it will save money, by not having to buy seed as frequently. I’m so impressed with this feeder, if I could give 100 stars on this review I would. ... show more

This anti-squirrel feeder is the bomb! It's a quality piece, easy to assemble, easy to clean, and easy to refill. And...it actually works in being squirrel-proof! It works so well that after about a week, the squirrels no longer even try. They just gather the seeds that lay on the ground. It has been such a joy watching the birds come and feed in the mornings and late afternoons. It's become quite the attraction. We now have the neighborhood diner for squirrels. I felt I was taking a small risk as this feeder is not inexpensive. But it works so well and the value is so great, this morning I ordered another one! Dec 2023. We've been using it for nearly six months now and I am more convinced now than ever before. This is an amazing feeder and is worth every penny we spent. The squirrels actually learn to stay away despite their best efforts to get to the seeds. It's easy to full and maintain and seems, except for one minor concern, to be incredibly durable. The battery holds a charge, but the longer we leave it out, the less frequently it needs to be charged because the squirrels learn to stay away. When it does need to be cleaned and charged, it's an easy and quick process. Our feeder area has become an incredible community center for the birds in our area. We spend early mornings and lazy afternoons amazed by the number of birds that show up. Trying to identify them all can be a challenge! One benefit is that, while the perches are better suited for small birds, the seeds that fall to the ground attract larger birds as well. I'll attach a picture of the lid to the feeder. It's made of rugged metal and shows the evidence of some squirrels that managed to get on top and tried to gnaw their way into the seed chamber. This is a well-thought-out design! Our only minor concern is the container for the seed. It is showing a faint crack near the top. I am going to investigate whether replacements are available. It will be a small price to pay for all the enjoyment we get form this feeder. ... show more

This thing is amazing and actually works! I had bought several squirrel proof feeders which were no match for the army of squirrels in my backyard. They’ve literally gnawed through plastic or just abused the feeders which would spill all over the ground and I would lose lots of seed. With this feeder the squirrels spent a few days jumping on this and getting spun around and falling off. They still persisted and would get spun off every time they jumped on the feeder. One squirrel got a little stuck and spun around a bunch of times before getting kicked off. After a week or so the squirrels leave it alone completely. Now it’s just the birds fighting amongst themselves to get a spot on the feeder perch. After 8 months of use I can’t recommend this enough. I charged it one time and haven’t needed to recharge it since. ... show more
