Description

A favorite of almost every backyard feeder bird. They have easy to crack, thin shells and can be offered in a wide variety of feeder types, like platform, tube, and hopper feeders. These seeds also have a high fat content that is perfect for giving birds energy all year long, especially in winter. This Yankee Flipper squirrel-proof feeder is the ultimate feeder for keeping your feathered friends fed, and the furred fiends hungry. Let's talk about the basics first. The sturdy polycarbonate feeding chamber is a whopping 4-3/4 inches in diameter and 21 inches long, giving you a break between refills--and ensuring that squirrels can't hang down from the top to reach seed. The four feeding chambers are easily accessible via the perch ring, and the interior of the chamber is designed to direct seed into the seed ports. Now, for the fun stuff: The birdfeeder features an encased motor and rechargeable (and replaceable) batteries. When you receive the feeder, simply charge the batteries overnight, hang the feeder from its looped bail wire, and prepare to be amazed (and entertained!). The motor is connected to the weight activated perch ring--birds will not set it off, even larger species like woodpeckers and cardinals. But the minute a squirrel hops onto the perch, the motor is triggered and the feeder begins spinning, taking the squirrel for a whirl before it loses its grip and is thrown (gently) from the perch. It's a humanitarian way to deal with persistent squirrels--there are no shocks or poisons to hurt them, simply a wild ride that they won't be inclined to repeat. Birds are free to eat without disruption, and your family will get a kick out of watching squirrels go for their rides. There's a lifetime warranty on the feeder body and a one-year warranty on the motor and battery charger. --Ariel Meadow Stallings

  • Fantastic quality.
Color: Yankee Flipper Style: Yankee Flipper
This is my favorite bird feeder. The birds love this bird feeder. Squirrels do not like it because it turns when they try to get onto it. They have tried unsuccessfully to get onto the feeder and have essentially given up. As a result, the birds are free to use this bird feeder any time they want. The feeder is weatherproof and very sturdy. It also holds a lot of bird seed. It looks great in my backyard. ... show more

  • Amusement and Value!

I had this feeder for 5 years and it was great. I just bought a new one. Something big broke it a year or more ago and the squirrels stayed off until now. Worth the money you’re sure to save in seed!

  • Best investment for my sanity
Color: Yankee Flipper Style: Yankee Flipper
The media could not be loaded. I have been dealing with squirrels and chipmunks for the past 4 years since using regular bird feeders. I have relocated over 300 squirrels and 240 chipmunks using have a heart traps. I have been waiting for the price of these to come down some and finally it happened. I bought two of them but am only using this one for now to test. With this feeder the food lasts a week. It holds 5lbs of food. I am using black oil seeds because it’s my birds favorite. I used conduit pipe 3/4” to make the hanger. You need to buy the large elbow and some connectors as well. 3 connectors used for one set up and one elbow. I wanted to keep it as high as possible so I used a 5 gallon bucket with concrete and a PVC pipe. I used one 50lb bag of concrete then add the water and tape one end of the pvc and slide it into the concrete and put something like a rock on top to keep it down and let sit over night. Now just slide the conduit into the PVC and I used a tree stake to make it a tight fit so the pipe doesn’t turn. I plan on drilling a hole in the PVC and adding a knob screw instead to tighten the pvc to the conduit pipe. I believe the conduit was 10 or 12’ long I cannot remember. Every squirrel that has tried has failed and it’s so funny to watch. I finally don’t have to drive squirrels away anymore and I actually get a ton of enjoyment seeing squirrels try rather than aggravated seeing them eat all the seed. You will love this feeder it’s exactly what I needed. ... show more

  • These four feeders (removed three bases to charge) were full this morning- it’s 4pm
Color: Yankee Flipper Style: Yankee Flipper
We have four and we LOVED them until….. the doves figured it out how not to get tossed. They still get whirled into our storm windows from time to time but mostly they’ve figured out how to bypass the tossing mechanism. I mean I don’t mind where the doves pick up the dropped seeds, not one bit. But going through four yankee flippers worth of seed a day is a lot. We do love our birds but yeah… ... show more

  • A pricey bird feeder equipped with a flaccid, slow-charging battery
Color: Yankee Flipper Style: Yankee Flipper
I really wanted to like this bird feeder. Unfortunately, the product is ruined by an anemic battery that not only ran out of juice after only four days but according to included instructions also requires a whopping fourteen hours (at least) to reach full charge each time. On the positive side, it's super easy to assemble and fill. After charging the battery for just under 20 hours, I was able to get the feeder assembled and set up outdoors within minutes. I hung the feeder on a hooked rod that extends away from my deck by about four feet. Oddly, most squirrels avoided jumping onto the more easily accessible weight sensitive perch and instead climbed up to the top of the feeder to paw and gnaw at the lid of the feeder. Once they reached the top of the feeder, however, they'd lose their nerve, scamper back down the support rod and then leap away from it. After a few days (two of which were recorded on a trail camera) only a couple of squirrels had attempted to grab hold of the perch. Each time they were immediately startled and flung off after triggering the motorized perch. Bottom line: It absolutely functions as intended. But for a product that's nearly $200, it was extremely disappointing to look out and see a squirrel chowing down from a feeder port while dangling from the motionless perch after only a few days. Again, I know from my camera feed that the rotating perch wasn't being repeatedly triggered by squirrels. So I rule that out as a reason the battery depleted within just a few days. Ultimately, I gave the feeder only one star. The motorized perch, I initially thought, justified its high price tag. To realize that that feature only lasts for a short time was very disappointing. To my surprise, there is also no LED on the battery to indicate that it's charging. Nor is there any kind of battery charge status indicator to warn the consumer that the battery is depleted and thus vulnerable to squirrels. In terms of durability, the metal base and top of the bird feeder are tough and should last a long time. IMO, the top should be designed to attach more securely to the main housing. A raccoon could easily dislodge the top and I suspect a determined squirrel could lift it off as well. Unfortunately, I also don’t have much confidence in the strength and durability of the clear plastic chamber that holds the bird seed. I think a thicker plexiglass would make the feeder far less vulnerable to critter damage. So, sadly, I can’t recommend this bird feeder and will be returning it. Again, for the price, imo the battery should last more than a few days, there should be some kind of battery status indicator, the top should fit more securely, and the main plastic tube that holds bird seed should be thicker. ... show more

  • The best feeder ever!
Color: Yankee Flipper Style: Yankee Flipper
My third Droll Yankees flipper. Always fun to watch the squirrels get flipped off although they have learned they can ride the feeder and have it fling seeds while they do. These feeders last a long time (5-6 years) and the birds love it. Highly recommended.
