It was touted as wireless, however only the sensor is wireless; the receiver must be plugged in electrically. Trying to find a "melody" out of 36 was next to impossible! I just want a clear alert sound, not music. Then the instructions for syncing the sensor and receiver were not clear. Until I realized the receiver wasn't responding to the sensor, I had no idea about syncing the two. I finally got it set up and it appears to be working. Now I need to find an alert sound I can live with and take the volume up - another question that wasn't answered. ... show more

I've used these for several years. We mainly wanted it to use to let us know when the dogs want to come back in the house we just have it right next to back door so it crosses door and aiming the driveway so when the dogs walk up to the door the monitor inside go off so we won't forget the dogs are outside and we'll know when they want to come back in. If anyone came in thru driveway as well it will go off. It's super easy to use. Plug in chime inside home and put monitor outside. You can set 3 levels of loudness and select many sounds/tunes to alert you. We have it in the kitchen and we keep it on low unless we are in the back bedroom and we only use a regular doorbell sound. It's very cheap especially since it does so much for us. We just think it's so great for the dogs as well. ... show more

I use this just inside of my garage door so that when I go inside to do a three minute task, I'll know if someone enters my garage. This thing is LOUD. Plus you have many sounds to choose from. Highly recommend. This could very easily serve as an intruder alarm if your garage was broken into. Trust me, you will hear the alarm. Install the motion sensor higher rather than lower as dogs will set it off. Great range for an average size garage. Now, how much lower could I go down the driveway if I needed (i.e. more distance between the motion detector and receiver inside the house), I don't know. We live in a very rural area with a very long driveway. We do not have internet available to use a home security system. We have these alarms set up to alert us to someone being on our property. Animals will set this off but it’s worth it to us to know when someone is here.
