The Drive Medical Viper is a versatile wheelchair right out of the box and it is easier to propel and transport than an average weight wheelchair. The Viper comes standard with adjustable padded arms, multiple seat to floor height positions, anti-tippers with flip-up wheels which never have to be removed and push to lock wheel locks. The back is height adjustable to provide added patient comfort. The carbon steel frame is high strength while remaining lightweight. The wheelchair upholstery is made of durable nylon for long lasting comfort and cleanliness. I purchased this for my mother who is susceptible to falls. I chose the version with the optional leg supports. While the leg supports are a little more bulky than other versions it does make for a comfortable ride. Very light and well-constructed. I never fold the chair, although it folds easily. She has a minivan and I just store it in the back with the wheels locked. The seat is well padded and she’s made no complaints. All four wheels are durable, well made, and offer a smooth ride. The adjustable and fold back arm supports are a plus. The chair is pretty much ready for use right out of the box. I think all I had to do was adjust the armrests and slide I the leg supports. A nice chair for the price. I also purchased the optional car seat belt which is easy to install. In addition, I purchased the cup holder which was also easy to install. I’ve purchased other Drive Medical products such as the Rollator and Walker and have never been disappointed with the ease of use and quality. ... show more

Because the reviews on this chair were mixed, I was worried about what the quality would be like. Once it arrived, though (in just a few days from the time I ordered it), all my fears were laid to rest. The chair is easy to fold/unfold; it is solid and sturdy; it is NOT tiny (it's a perfect size for anyone from about 5 feet to six feet tall, up to 250 pounds in weight). The seat is very comfortable, the footrests are perfectly angled and easy to put on/off (no tools required). The wheels roll very smoothly, and any average-strength woman should have no problem wheeling herself around (my sister has no trouble, and she's had stage 4 cancer for 7 years, now). And even with the footrests on, the chair still weights less than 50 pounds, making it manageable for most women and pretty much all men. I highly recommend this chair for anyone up to about 6 feet tall (perhaps even an inch or two taller) and 250 pounds in weight. (I was delighted with it!) ... show more

    • Great compact solid wheelchair for small adult
Size: 14 Inch Style: Flip Back Removable Desk Arms/Elevating ...
I bought the 14" version for my petite Japanese Mom since she's recently become a fall risk with her walker. She's under 5' and just over 80lbs and it fits her perfectly with a 14"x14"x2" foam cushion on the seat. I can raise the wheelchair seat two inches and then the cushion will not be necessary but when folded will be harder to fit into my car. I debated about the elevated leg supports but figure they may come in handy when needing to elevate her legs. She does suffer from some ankle swelling so having this feature is a plus. But they do add weight and make folding the feet out of the way when standing more difficult. This is described as a lightweight wheelchair but with the leg supports, it's feels as heavy as a larger transport chair. The large wheels with grip ring are great although she does not propel herself. The arm supports are short so when I am pushing her, she has trouble holding onto them. But the short arms make tucking her close to a table much easier when I take her to restaurants. If I were to buy again, I might opt for the 16" seat just to give her a little more room. But the narrow seat does make navigating hallways and doorways very easy. I have no trouble pushing the short wheelchair by leaning over. It rolls easily enough I can open a door with one hand and push her through with the other. This is not a lightweight chair but sturdy and seems built to last. One other comment - unlike other wheelchairs I've used, to unfold the seat of this chair, you push down on each side of the seat vigorously. It folds very easily by pulling up on the seat by the back. ... show more

I am an adult and needed a 14" wide Chair for adult. The Chair tips forward a n Leg rest are not for an adult legs. I paid over $300.00 out of pocket. My insurance company did pay any part of exspense . My income is very limited, social security only.
