  • Excellent - choose this!
After extensive research, purchased this walker/rollator for 91 year old mother. You never know if the right choice, but hope for the best (especially since this is not returnable). Luckily, an EXCELLENT choice …mother loves it. It is well made, doesn’t have the cables hanging out where they can get caught on something (thank goodness - this is a really great feature) and is very maneuverable. Seat and adjustable seat back…comfortable. Nice little mesh bag to carry stuff. HOWEVER, its’ claim to fame (and deserving of recognition) is how it folds up and is still maneuverable and stable (I’m sure everyone knows it’s not designed to be used all the time in a semi “folded” position). An elderly person with arthritis and mobility issues (as my mother) can easily grab the handle in the center of the seat and lift…folding it such that she can roll it through narrow doorways (she also folds it into a narrow position to have it right next to bed …and then rolls it easily from the bedside to open floor area). Then, push the seat back down into locked position. VERY easy. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this feature is. (The first time you’re trying to maneuver a walker/rollator in a tight space, you’ll be grateful…and there are ALWAYS tight spaces at some point). She can also put things on the seat to carry them from place to place. She can sit in seat when in kitchen doing “stuff”, sits in seat and is comfortable out on patio when taking her dog out, etc., etc…. Additionally, I’ll note that I can lift it into, and out of, the back seat of car (I’m 72) when needing to take her to doctor, etc. (that’s a 4-door car). Note: when totally in “folded” position, it stays locked so doesn’t try to open up when loading/unloading from vehicle. Just set it on ground and push down on handles and it will start “unfolding” and open up. Directions included with walker/rollator explain this. I did purchase a Nitro cane holder attachment (comes in 2 pieces … the cane “clip” and a bottom rest for the foot of the cane) as well as a “hook” attachment (S-shaped with Velcro) to hang her purse or bag on. I will note I couldn’t find a cup holder of any kind that would work (appears the Nitro “sprint” model has a cup holder attachment point). I ended up retrofitting the cup holder made for the Nitro Sprint model by using Velcro wrap, the bottom/foot rest of the cane holder (the cup holder sits on the cane rest and then I wrapped Velcro around the cup and rollator frame). Not elegant, but it’s secure. The cup holder also holds her over-sized cell phone. FYI - regarding the cane holder … the “clip” portion of the cane holder securely holds her cane so I was able to leverage using the bottom/foot rest of the cane holder when doing my retrofit for the cup holder. Quick point … observe the main frame is not round (so it can hide cables), thus it’s more difficult to find generally available walker/rollator accessory attachments so keep that in mind. However, I could either get what I needed, or came up with a retrofit. Like the other features so much I’d still buy it again. So, the manufacturer let us down on a cup holder mount for this model, but I figured out a workaround and didn’t take a star off since because of it. (Maybe they’ll read this and fix their faux pas. LOL) I seldom write reviews, but felt this was deserving of it (and the price was reasonable). Final note … waited over a month, with my mother constantly using it, before writing review. ... show more

  • The Ferrari of rolling walkers...
We get a lot of comments. This is so classy looking, a true aristocrat of rolling walkers. Though it weighs two or three pounds more than our previous NOVA GetGo Junior Rollator Walker (which I give 4 stars, by the way), it's actually much easier to fold up and get into and out of the trunk of our Honda Civic. The seat is more comfortable to sit in, and it's height from the ground makes it easier for my wife to get up off it. Watch out for the brake levers though - it's possible to pinch your fingers! So 4.9 stars, technically. ... show more

  • Wonderfully useful walker
I am 73 and can walk fine just not for any distance, four blocks is the max, then I have to sit even if only a curb is available because of my back. Found that I could last much longer if hanging onto a shopping cart, hence my purchasing a walker. I was concerned about how a mobile person would "look" with a walker, then I took a trip to with my grown children and found many more like myself. After the first hour the "look" was no longer a concern. They drug me through San Antonio for 8 hours with only food and beverage breaks and I held out just fine. What a joy to be able to participate. I had declined previous invitations for fear of being a burden. My first walker was a Medline Empower Rollator, which is a fine piece of equipment while in use. I did have some problems with folding and shipping. After it is folded (like a lawn chair, front to back) it becomes extremely unwieldy and tends to unfold if not holding it just right. For shipping on airline cargo I had to Velcro the brake lines to the frame in several places and velcro the frame closed because I was concerned with it being damaged in normal baggage handling. Even then one brake cable was damaged. When folding and carrying onto a bus or down stairs (my wonderful son-in-law took care of this) it was very cumbersome, therefore I didn't feel comfortable using it when I was traveling alone. So it sat in my garage where is took up much needed space. Now to the Nitro Euro Rollator; all of the problems with my previous walker are eliminated. The two walkers weigh the same, 17 pounds, but the difference in handling is enormous. The Nitro folds side to side and will still roll easily with one hand. The brake lines are enclosed in the frame, and there is a brake lock, which was absent on the Medline. By picking it up, folded, by the seat carry strap, I can easily move it on and off of buses or in and out of the car. As a safety measure when shipping in airline baggage I will still use one velcro strap around the frame, although would probably not be necessary. When folded it is very compact and it will live in the house rather than the garage, when it is not in my car. The many adjustments on the Nitro make it even more useful. I can place the back strap in perfect position to support my back and the handles have a wide up/down variance. Lastly, it is sleek and good looking. ... show more

  • Superb After looking at dozens of designs....
After researching dozens of road laser style walkers with a seat I ended up with this one. You can find rollators for as little as $58 but do you want one that is the quality of a $58 rollator? Is your stability important? It's worth saving 50 to $100 to sacrifice or risk your safety? My wife suffered a full infected her leg and from the hospital with giving a drive medical wheelchair. After several weeks she's now been able to walk with the help of a walker and wanted to make sure she got one that was strong easy to roll easy to fall and into the transport including inside our Kia soul vehicle. Pros 1. Looks and feels solid as a rock 2. Wheeling it is a pleasure no matter if you're on wooden floors or outdoor cement 3. Folding it and setting it in place securely is a breeze 4. It is relatively lightweight 5. Yeah that's a little foot push bar on the back right side near the wheel to assist in getting over bumps or curbs 6. The handles are adjustable in height up to a comfortable level for most average height 7. The zipper basket is plenty Ruby for convenience items and the basket can be removed 8. The hand brakes are excellent for general use and for locking the walker in place while you're getting up or down from it for safety purposes 9. Is manufactured by a brand name drive medical with even the same name on the wheelchair given to us by the hospital 10. It came completely assembled!!! 11. On the seat it's a small loop hook used to pull up and fold the Walker which I also used to assist in putting the unit into my vehicle Cons: more expensive than others...but worth it. Do yourself a favor and just buy this one. Don't let price alone be your decision guide...let safety and convenience ... show more

  • I have 2 Nitro rollators
I already own the Drive Nitro Heavy Duty rollator, now 3 yrx old, that is designed for bariatric patient use, but it's too wide to fit through the 23" frame to the bathroom and the 25" frame to my bedroom in my apartment without tugging the seat to half-collapse it. If I do that, it's more difficult to maneuver and not as secure. Even for this model, I had to have the door removed from the bathroom to just ease it through, but at least the Drive cup holder I ordered and attached to the side folds just enough that it too clears the doorway. I now leave the larger model in my car trunk for use when I am out, because it allows me to sit if I need to, and fold and slip the new one along the covered back seat of my Camry. I'm too large to use the seat of the standard sized model, but It's been invaluable as I recovered from my second bout of covid followed by flu. I'm used to navigating around my apartment using furniture and door frames to steady myself, leaving the heavy duty rollator in the kitchen to provide me with a balance point as I move around, or a seat when I do the dishes. But I was far too weak and unsteady for that to be an option for almost a month of covid and flu. Because of the tight layout in the bathroom and because I'm a tenant, it was not practical to install secure hand grips to help me step in and out of the tub. Now I can park and lock the brakes on the new rollator, then adjust the height of the handles to exactly what I need to safely step in and out as it's solid enough not to tip over under normal circumstances. I have to navigate 7 steps to the foyer and exit of my secure building, and even the standard model is a little heavy to fold and heft up the steps myself but I'm managing. The heavy duty model is wide enough that I can place a full-sized laundry basket across the seat to corral groceries or other things I need help moving to and from my car, or when I am out shopping. If I suddenly need to sit at the grocery store, I can easily shift the basket of groceries from the seat the floor and rest until I can continue., The basket is too large for use with the standard model, but I found a tote bin that I can use to help me take out the trash safely. The handles raise just high enough that the back strap can be raised as well and the edge of the tote bin slipped beneath it so it's reasonably secure. But as I can't use the seat myself, it's much more useful for me inside my apartment than out and about. The Drive Nitro rollators may seem pricey, but they are an investment and absolutely worth every penny for their durability, stability, usefulness for things as simple as bringing a plate from the kitchen to the table that can't be done easily with the folding aluminum frame style walkers, very easy maneuverability around obstacles and in tight areas, and the ease with which they handle outdoor terrain. Neither my primary insurance nor Medicare would pay for these models and that could be a barrier for some people, and I am fortunate that I could afford to self-pay for something that is so much safer and more practical for my needs. NOTE: Get hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes to use on the grips and other parts of your Drive rollator, dispose of the used wipes in a plastic sack or receptacle you carry in the net basket, and follow up by using hand santizer or wash your hands thoroughly after being out in public. I'm immune compromised now and didn't realize that I was recontaminating my hands every time I used my rollator, and I kept picking up colds or other illnesses no matter how carefully I was masking and cleaning my hands. I contacted Drive customer service and was emailed a file with instructions for cleaning and for sanitizing, Bleach based products may discolor the grips and seat and eventually damage them. ... show more

  • Great product! Needs a few engineering upgrades!
I like it! It's a stylish piece of gear for a handicapped person. It's very adjustable and plenty sturdy. I also like the way that it folds up and collapses into itself from side to side instead of from front to back so that you can get through narrower doorways simply by slightly collapsing it lifting the little handle on the seat slightly! That's a great feature. The only reason that this doesn't get 5 stars from me, is because of the fact that its tires are made from plastic instead of rubber. This is one of the most rudimentary components on the unit. Aside from the stability of the unit itself, it's the most important component that determines whether the unit will slip or slide sideways or whether it will grip the ground when you apply the brakes or slide on a slippery or wet surface. The difference to a manufacturer in cost for upgrading the tires from plastic to rubber is probably about 4 to 8 dollars for the set. When we are talking about a product that they are selling for several hundred dollars, spending 4 to 8 dollars more for such a critical component would seem to be a no brainer for any serious manufacturer of medical equipment. None the less, for so many manufacturers these days, they think in chinese.....cheap , cheaper, cheapest . It's sad, that in America we've lost our way , and now so many Manufacturing decisions are all about cost, cost, cost. They forget about how much the customer truly enjoys the product that they get when they start using it and then remember the name that brought them that great product . In the end it hurts them, their reputation, and ultimately their sales. And then they wonder why. All of the "serious manufacturers" of these roller ater products use ***rubber tires*** on their products to ensure a significant non-slip experience for the user to ensure their safety. Why this company, who has taken the time to design such a unique and stylish product, has chosen to overlook this particular critical component is beyond my own thinking . But things change ... Perhaps they'll take a look at this in the future. The other thing that this company may look at in the future , is the material that the actual wheels that the tires are mounted on are made from, which is also plastic, to a lightweight metal such as perhaps aluminum for durability sake as well as taking a look at how those wheels are fastened to the unit itself and whether or not the wheels are using any bearings or whether they're just rolling around on a lug welded to the end of each corner of the frame, which by itself, under stress is more subject to breaking, as well as potentially losing its retention nut, screw or bolt. Like I said, overall I like the unit it's very unique, stylish and fun to use. It folds up easily, and goes into the car well! And on an overall basis it functions very well. My only concerns come from an engineering standpoint which will has to do with the overall durability of the product and the safety of the product in a challenging environment ....... elements and materials that the manufacturer can easily overcome by upgrading a few components for a couple of dollars and without feeling compelled to change their margin on the unit, but rather simply pass along the marginal cost of those overlooked improvements to the consumer, without feeling the need to go to them for another fifty bucks, and who will be happy to pay that difference in cost for such a high quality product at a reasonable price!....... capiche? ... show more

  • Rollin' along in style!
I ordered this a couple of months ago. I waited to do a review because there were some negative ones on here and I wanted to really test this out. I can't find any negatives about it. It's far more lightweight than my old rollator. The larger front wheels go over uneven terrains easily. I volunteer for a service dog agency and I spend time on a ranch with all kinds of surfaces. This rollator just works well. I love how it folds up like a wheelchair. I can easily fit it in my car. It will stand up easily even when folded. I've had many doctors and medical professionals ask me about it for their patients. People think it looks "jazzy". Hey, if you have to be stuck using a walker, it's nice to have one that looks good. I'm older, but not elderly, so yes, I care. I'm 5' 1 1/2" and the height is fine for me. I do have it at it's lowest height. Someone shorter than me might find it too high. I also love the fact that there are no brake cables sticking out. I used to catch stuff all the time with my old walker. That was a pain. This one doesn't have that problem. The seat is comfortable enough. Just make sure you put the brakes on if you are sitting in it! It rolls much easier than the older style rollators. I do miss my wire basket, but then again I don't have to take this one off each time I fold it. The fabric one folds right along with the walker. It came totally put together. A HUGE plus. Just pulled it out of the box and off I went. ... show more
