Received the wheelchair today, many thanks to the folks at VetMed USA for correcting a shipping problem very promptly even though it happened on the busy Thanksgiving weekend. My mom has been unable to walk for 18 years so I think I'm well versed in the pros/cons of different equipment. I'm very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. Very well built and sturdy yet lightweight and it folds up compactly. It rolls very easily whether empty or with mom in it. The leg rests have more adjustment and are easier to remove and install than those of any chair she's had. The chair will easily accommodate the weight it's rated for; I weigh 307 pounds and I had plenty of room to spare. She's says it's very comfortable too. The house was built in 1953 and not to meet A.D.A. standards of today but this chair fits through every doorway and hall. This chair will make my mom's life a lot easier as well as those of us who take her out. She had become reluctant to leave her home because she thought it was too much trouble for us lugging her old full size chair in and out of the car. This is much lighter and compact yet sturdier and feels safer too. Fine product and seller, I'm well satisfied with all aspects of my purchase.

Husband dislocated hip and after rehab we needed a bariatric transport chair to take him out. Love this chair although it is kind of heavy to put in the car. I take whatever help is offered to do it.

Pro — Built like a tank! Well-made with sturdy, quality materials and components. Con — Built like a tank! And just about as heavy. Better have some muscles to get it in and out of your car! Pro — Drive is a reliable name in wheelchairs and has been dependable for us in the past. Con — The only feature that does not seem as sturdy to us are the footrests. They feel rather flimsy and as if they might break easily. I will have to be careful to not put undue pressure on them. Pro — There is a large, roomy pocket behind the seat. Con — Couple of nit-picky things 1) The arm rests could have been a few inches longer. They feel a little short for my comfort. 2) The shade of blue is brighter, royal blue rather than the steel blue depicted. I know this is not just my monitor since all the other blue chairs show up as royal blue, which is why I liked this one — because I thought it was different. And yes, I know that really IS nit-picky and I shouldn’t even mention it. All-in-all, good value for the money.

I didn't use this chair personally - I bought it to donate to a museum for them to loan to visitors that needed a chair. It took very minor attachment time of the feet rests. It appears to be Very Heavy Duty rated at 450lbs passenger weight and I really believe it will send up to that. It appears to be very well made. It came quickly in a huge cardboard box. Biggest problem is how to get rid of the cardboard box.

I didn't want the hassle of renting a wheelchair, knowing I would be non-weight bearing for about two months after my ankle surgery. I was looking for a quality chair without having to spend a fortune. After researching several chairs, I chose the Red, 22" Bariatric Transport Chair 'knowing' I would have someone to push me around all the time. My expected two months has turned into eleven, my husband & teenage children are always 'hotrodding' me around, they are not the gentlest when loading it in and out of the vehicles and I don't always have someone to push me around. This cheaper in price is definitely not cheaper in value. It has held up through more than normal wear & tear. Sure, I have all kinds of dings, chips & scratches in the sparkly red paint, I've lost or cracked all but one or two of the black caps, the right arm rest got caught on the tailgate, got cracked in half & broke off. The nylon fabric has held up fantastically, including the handles used to fold up the chair, the grips are still intact, and the wheels are in good condition. The arm rests are easy to remove when not needed and it's not too heavy. If I can get a replacement for the piece that broke, and tighten up a few screws & bolts, there is no reason the chair won't last longer. I think the weight max is either 400 or 450. I weighed 300 when I first had my surgery, & it worked fine. I am now down below 250, and I have plenty of room in the 22" chair.
