  • Best ultra light chair
Color: Matte Grey
I replaced a feather chair with this. I can move this myself. Brakes work well. It does weigh a few pounds more however both of my caregivers say they cant tell the difference putting it in the car. They both say it’s easier to push.

  • Excellent Light Wheel Chair: Portable, Easily Folded, Foot Rests Feel Short
Color: Matte Grey
I love the Drive Medical Aerofly wheelchair. You just unpack it, add the seat cushions and foot rests, and it’s ready to roll! The well-engineered design meets our needs. My spouse is the one pushing and lifting it into the car. I am the one riding. I have arthritis and can walk somewhat, but I need a transport chair to go a distance or to take a walk in nature. I like the big wheels which make it easier over uneven terrain, plus I can roll it myself. It is lightweight and compact. You pull it open sideways, outwards. At assembly, you set the back and then add the cushion. To close it, you tip it to its side or fold it inward. I can even do it, it doesn’t need a lot of strength. The handbrakes work well. There are permanent braking clamps beneath the hand brakes and also at the front of the chair for the rider to use. They start out very stiff but ease up with use. The wheels glide smoothly (easy to miss: take the plastic wrap off the front wheels!) I have trouble with chairs that hit the back of my thighs when I sit down. NOT this one! The mesh seat is very comfortable and after sitting for one hour I felt no discomfort. However, I am 180 pounds, but am not a large person. This chair may be too narrow for some. Without foot rests, my feet just touch the ground. The problem I have is the length of the foot rests. They are too short and uncomfortable for me. The top of the rod to the foot rest plate is 16 inches. Still, I can ride without them, so it’s not a big deal for me right now. Both I and my spouse are very pleased with the convenience of this chair. Our current one has small wheels that catch on terrain and it’s much heavier. We’re looking forward to testing this one in several other situations. The price of over six-hundred bucks is steep, but you are getting a very light and flexible chair with large wheels that are easily removed and attached. Recommend, but check the foot rest length. • Wheels That Make Travel Feel Like a Breeze
Color: Matte Black
This wheelchair feels less like a bulky piece of medical gear and more like a smooth travel buddy that’s down for anything. First thing you notice is how lightweight it is — you can fold it down, toss it in the trunk, and still have room for your groceries or luggage. I used it during a weekend trip, and it made moving through airports, sidewalks, and crowded places so much easier without needing a second pair of hands. The built-in carry handles are clutch when you’re on the go. Comfort isn’t an afterthought here either. The padded seat and backrest actually make long rides bearable — none of that stiff, “I need to get out of this thing” vibe after a couple hours. The design is sleek too, not something that screams “medical device” every time you roll by. The swing-away footrests make getting in and out simple, especially if you’re transferring to a bed or a car seat. What really gives peace of mind is the safety setup. It’s got anti-tippers, treaded tires, and a braking system you or a caregiver can easily control. I used it on a steep ramp once, and it stayed stable without that scary rolling-back feeling. That kind of detail matters when you’re out and about, especially if uneven pavement or hills are part of your daily route. ... show more

  • A great wheelchair! Light, comfortable, highly maneuverable!
Color: Matte Grey
Happily, my visiting Physical Therapist (PT) was scheduled to visit on the day I received this, so I got about an hour of professional training. This is great wheelchair. It comes out of the box assembled, except for the seat and back cushions, leg rests and anti-tip wheels. It takes only minutes to install these parts. The wheelchair is very light (13.3 pounds), but very sturdy. There are squeeze brakes on the back if you have someone pushing you and another set of brake handles accessible to the user. I'm 5'11" and found the footrests to be comfortable for me to use. My PT put me through the paces of maneuvering the wheelchair in my apartment. I am pleased that it is so nimble, with a virtually zero turning radius. She taught me to how to use my hands and legs for propulsion, how to navigate tight spaces and more. The chair overall is comfortable, but I did put a cushion on the seat. The chair folds easily and the leg rests can be left on or not. Interestingly, no instructions are included with the wheelchair. They're not really needed since the chair essentially comes out of the box ready to go. There is a minimal tool set included, the purpose of which I still have to figure out. Until now, my experience with wheelchairs has been limited to those during hospital stays or doctor visits. This wheelchair feels comfortable and usable from the first moment. I think it's great.
