  • Day one first impression, it's ok.
I purchased this chair because I was re-doing my sim rig, I wanted to get away from the locked-in chair, get up from the floor, for comfort and to have a bit of freedom while I'm at the PC. This chair does fulfill that purpose, as any functioning chair would. There were no instructions included in the box with my unit, but it's easy enough to figure out. Assembly is straight-forward, it's easy to pick which bolts go where based on how many are included in the packaging (extras are included as well). If you have any experience putting together office chairs, it's a quick 10-20 minute task. The seat itself is quite comfortable for the price point. It's wide, and the padding is surprisingly thick. Usually with cheaper chairs you get minimal padding and end up having to use a cushion of some kind, but not with this chair. The padding is quite good, even for someone of my size (6'4", 275lbs). I've put a few hours in the chair already and have experienced zero discomfort in that regard. I'm not a huge fan of the material used, it was hard to tell that in the product images what kind of material it was, but it's not that big of a deal. Overall the chair is comfortable enough. There are a handful of things I have to nitpick on. First is the lumbar support, it's basically useless. As with all chairs that have built-in lumbar support like this, it's not high enough for taller people, even at it's max height adjustment. It also doesn't stay in place when you adjust it. Raise it up, and it immediately falls down. The only way to get it to stay up is to sit in the chair, reach behind, raise it, and lean against it. The back has a lot of play, even when it's locked in place. This is another thing common with cheaper chairs. I'd prefer it to stay totally vertical when it's locked, but it still leans back a few inches before finally stopping. This is usually caused by poor tolerances in the mechanism. I'll have to see if I can do something about this on my own because I need to be able to sit up totally straight when relaxed, and not slouch back like that. The arms, while functional, have some flaws. The padding is poor, but that's to be expected at this price. I added a couple arm rest pads I already had (not pictured) to compensate for that. They don't quite go high enough for someone of my height, but the pads help, adding an additional inch or so. The biggest flaw of the arms is they have zero support when raised from the lowest position. It's enough to hold your arms, but you cannot use them when getting in or out of the chair to support yourself, they will immediately slide down to the lowest position. The locking mechanism that holds them in place is particularly weak. I'm not sure I'd want to use them for much support past just holding your arms anyway, as they're entirely plastic. I did not use the stock casters, so I cannot comment on them. I purchased new, locking casters to go on the chair instead. This way I could lock the chair in place and not worry about rolling backwards while gaming. The bottom "star" of the chair is a bit of an oddity to me. Instead of being all one unit, like every other chair I've ever owned or sat in, it bolts together. Each of the arms is a separate piece that is held on to a central, small "star", and they're held on with one bolt apiece. It seems fine, but time will tell how sturdy this will stay. I'm a big guy, but I'm not one to move around a lot while seated, so it should hold up fine. I can't comment on the hydraulic. It's very normal for cheaper chairs to have a weak hydraulic that start to fail within a year. This one is too new to tell, and I also use the chair at it's lowest setting, so it will never be an issue for me anyway. I did rag on the chair a bit, but overall I'm pleased with it, for the cost. If I'd paid $150 or more I'd return it, but for the ~$100 I paid, it is acceptable. Time will tell how it holds up. The almost full plastic construction worries me more than anything else, everything from the seat up is plastic. This technically isn't a bad thing, but it depends on the quality of the materials used, and at this price... We'll see. ... show more

  • Good budget friendly chair with neck support for big & tall people
Color: Black
I rarely leave reviews, but can be a pain trying to find a decent chair with neck support at a reasonable price. Doubly so when you're over 6' or 200 lbs. So if you're on the bigger side and on a budget, here's the TL;DR: I'm 6'2, 230-ish, and for the $100 I paid, this chair is fantastic so far. I think it would fit someone up to 6'4" and 250+ lbs, and maybe a couple of inches and a few pounds more than that. Positives: * The seat is wide with firm cushioning. It feels like it will hold up well over time even if you're on the more-to-love side. * Mesh back is comfortable and doesn't make me sweat like the faux leather upholstered chairs tend to. * Reclining feature is adjustable and strong. I had no problems setting it to a firmness that allows me to lean my weight into it without it flexing. Time will tell how well it holds up. * Arms are comfortable, removable, and adjustable for height. * Neck support is comfortable, removable and adjustable for height and angle. It feels solid and still has a few inches of extension left at the setting I use. * Assembly is easy. It requires a single allen key (included) for all of the bolts and a phillips head screwdriver for the neck support adjustment. * No tacky "gamer" branding or obnoxious accents. It would fit in in a professional setting. Negatives: * You have to remove the neck support from the chair back to adjust it. It can take a few times of screwing and unscrewing the bolts to get it right. Don't install the plastic cover piece until you have it dialed in. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. * The upholstery is basic cloth and has a somewhat rough texture. * The arms only adjust up and down, no 3D adjustment. This hasn't been a problem for me, but it's worth noting. * Lumbar support is attached by a thin sheet of springy plastic. It does the job, but I could see the plastic fatiguing over time. Overall, I'd compare this favorably to the more expensive Ikea Markus chair that it replaced. At the price (around $100 at the time of this review), it's an easy 5 stars. I'll update this review if my opinion changes. PS: Not sponsored or compensated. ... show more

  • Pretty good so far
Color: Black
Haven't had this chair too long. Only a few days now. So far it seems great. Assembly is simple but the only slight difficulty is when assembling by yourself. The chair seems sturdy. I like this design better than other types. This one attaches the back part directly to the metal part connecting to the gas/compressing part under the chair. Because it leverages directly on that metal part, it is likely to be durable/sturdy. The arms connect separately to the seat. I would say this is a very durable design. The seat cushion is pretty good. It is comfortable. It is wide with no wings at the side like other chairs. If you sit legs spread wide, this chair has open sides. I bought this chair to replace another one that broke. The other chair broke from the part that connects the chair back to the seat. It was connect via the arms. The arms made of some form of hard plastic, snapped. This current chair, the Dripex, appears to be much more sturdy. Back part connected to the metal support under the chair and not to the arms. ... show more
