I got this to replace the 3" topper I was using. It was fine, but really soft. And it slipped every night, wouldn't stay in place. This gives me firmer support without being like a firm mattress. It does actually give targeted support for different parts of the body. My only slight downside is that I didn't consider that 3" for this topper includes all the space between the ridges. We did a little dry run on the tent and the pad that we we're using sucked... So we ordered this and took it with us... it was quite amazing actually... Spent 3 days sleeping on the ground using this pad and I felt great... you could not feel the ground and it was quite comfortable... It did have a little bit of a funny smell.. kind of like soap actually but...kind of to be expected..🤷 It's got some wait to it so not really something you're going to want a backpack but if you've got some form of transportation.... I bought this one for my second child going off to college. My first purchase of this item was 2 years ago and my first student loves it. She says it helps keep her cooler and it has stood up well for at least 2 years - no discoloration or indents. This is much better than the egg-crate style pad. My cats get along but they each have their own napping spots and occasionally they rotate out. Upon realizing my bed has become More Comfortable™, the cats have started tolerating each others presence on the bed since I've been using this topper. This product is Cat Approved. It's also Human Approved. It's comfortable, it doesn't get hot and we're full swing into a heatwave here in Florida. I wake up feeling considerably less achy than I did before. I was a little apprehensive at the idea of memory foam given that it does have the tendency to compress once you've settled to the point it feels like nothing is there but I haven't had that issue with this particular topper. I bought this to use as a pad while camping and it’s perfect for what I was looking for! Enough cushioning that you don’t feel the hard ground/rocks/bumps, but thin enough to fold in half and roll up to store away in a large garbage bag.
