Okay, *needing* to register for an account is an automatic deal breaker for any household product, in my mind. Sorry, but I'm firm on this. Minus 3 stars for that. So, what do you get, physically, in the box? The spool of LEDs, a small 3-button inline controller (#1: on/off; #2: 10 choices of all LEDs set to the same color; #3: 4 sound-sensitive animation programs.) That's it, but it's pretty good starting point. The strip can do so much more, but that's locked away in the Govee Home app, which requires an account with who-knows-whom, and permission to know the the location of your phone (and by extension, the exact location of where you've installed the strip.) Registration and knowing where you are should not be necessary for a tool that establishes a bluetooth link to that inline 3-button controller. Having downloaded the app, it should only be necessary to pair using bluetooth and do the color configuration... and *nothing* more. If Govee is willing to provide an account-less configuration app with *nothing* more (no adware, no permissions other than bluetooth necessary, etc) then I'd be more than happy to give five stars, because individually addressable LED strips like this are cool. They just piled on too much unnecessary stuff that presents a digital security risk. I'm deciding whether to return this, or if I should consider using this as raw parts for a DIY project; the strip looks like I2C-driven LEDs, so there is some possibility. But locking full access to the built-in features behind an account is just a non-starter for me, so this is only "half a product" in my mind. (Of course, they did say this in the description, but often you're able to side-step the whole account thing.) As said in other reviews, the physical LED strip is quite solidly built, complete with rubberize shield covering the strip (though the description says it's indoor-only, and the controller is clearly not outdoor ready.) So to sum up, physically nice, and the bare-bones out-of-the-box unit has some nice features, but full access involves a Faustian bargain I'm not willing to be a party to. So no thanks.

The media could not be loaded. These lights are amazing! So easy to install, they look great and when you use them with music, just wow. Showed my friends and they were ordering less then an hour after I had mine. So glad I found these. I will be ordering more and putting them in other rooms!

These lights are incredible! Read all of the way through. I first purchased basic LED lights for behind my TV, and they were good... But the adhesive didn't stick well, and had individual red green and blue bulbs making color inconsistent. So then I bought other LED lights with better adhesive, and rgb lights that shared a bulb which were GREAT... but the lights couldn't sync with music or sync up with Alexa. Then I bought these lights, and they are everything I could want and more. The adhesive works great, the music sync is amazing, the light customization is easy and looks phenomenal. Colors are more vibrant than all other light strips I have owned, and I cannot speak highly enough about this product. My advice: just buy these to begin with. They work flawlessly, they add so much to a room, and they are worth every penny. You won't regret it.

The media could not be loaded. Pretty easy to set up. Pretty easy to use. At first Alexa couldn’t find the lights but after a couple days when I was trying to set up my speaker the lights were found (speaker still isn’t discoverable). I made a group for both strips of lights and can turn both on and off at the same time although one responds before the other. My only complaint is that I have no way to sync the two different strips together as you can see in the video and running just one strip wasn’t really possible with my set up. I had read the two can be connected but that also seems to be difficult with my set up. If they didn’t cost so much I’d try splicing the wires to the actual control. Still they’re fun and the kids love them. Great addition to my entertainment center. 5 stars because I have no complaints about the actual product. Packaging was sufficient, set up and use was easy, and they’re made well.

I ordered 2 sets one DreamCatcher 1 RGB. If you’re only looking to get 1 set the DC option seems to do everything the RGB does plus it also has some flashier color options so I’d suggest the DC model is the better choice. I did notice the adhesive on the DC set was much better than that on the RGB set I rec’d not sure if that was just a random bad set or a consistent issue between the two models. I didn’t try to cut or splice either set so can’t speak to that. Overall very pleased with the lights they work great via the app or Alexa I’d go 5 stars DC 3.5 on RGB due to poor adhesive.

I bought one of these (shorter) to go on the back of a 62 inch TV in my garage and it worked flawlessly. So, during a Masterbath/bedroom remodel I got the idea of adding some ambient light to the room. Took me all of about 10 minutes to install this. Adhesion to the bottom of the wood frame was excellent. The app connected right up to the light system and is easy to use. It has three buttons on the unit to turn it off and on, cycle through different colors and different light patterns. I will only use it for solid lighting. Brightness is adjustable and white balance can be adjusted from warm (yellow) to cool (white). I'll buy another as soon as I can find a cool place to put it!
