  • Not wide enough for large balancers but works on most smaller automotive crank pulleys.
Wasn't big enough for the balancer we were trying to pull, even though some take very little effort with a tool like this, but it is mostly meant for smaller engine harmonic balancers, will or may work on some v8s even but mainly smaller automotive engines running 6 rib or smaller belt systems.

  • I’ve had this set up in a couple brands. This is by far the best I’ve owned.
If you’ve worked on enough cars over the years, you collect a few different brands of pullers and clamp systems and other various systems to remove wheels, employees, and gears and such. I’ve got another set of this type of set up, but it’s not near as good quality as this one. The pictures in the original ad are pretty good , they show a lot of information to give you an idea of the quality , all I’ve added in my pictures is the following . I have the size of the Alan key used to tighten the arms ,that’s what the 10 is on the one clamp. On the main driver bolt is a 17 Which is the size of the socket or wrench you need. As you can see it has a 3/8 squared drive internally so you can just use a ratchet directly on it, which I really like. The other thing that’s very nice that my other unit doesn’t have is the actual bearing in the tip so that it does it wander and chase and gouge whatever shaft you’ve got it on while you’re pulling it off. To continue with the hit Parade it has nurling on The clamp knobs so you don’t have to use an Allen key to initially set it up. I have found just finger tightening is enough to keep the jaws in place. The machine is good enough tolerance so that the grooves that are cut for the locking nuts to lock the arms in and out do not allow the arms to from rotating around the rod and messing up the alignment and so they stay square to each other . Can you tell I really like this unit? ... show more

  • Handy Tool for Pulley Removal
My husband used this harmonic balancer puller set, and it made removing crankshaft and pulley parts way easier than expected. The universal design worked well on different pulleys, and the tool felt sturdy and reliable. It’s straightforward to use and saved him a lot of hassle with A/C unit and alternator repairs. Definitely a solid addition to our toolbox. ... show more

  • Solid piece of kit that easily got the job done.
I was trying to remove a supercharger pulley and tried two other pullers first. One was a claw type with 3 arms and it actually started to deform the pulley. I had heard of people cutting these pulleys off because they are so difficult to remove. I didn't want to do that, so I gave this puller a try. It looks smaller and kind of wimpy in the product listing pictures, but that is not the case in real life. I included a picture with my hand on it, so you could get some perspective. It clamps on tightly and there is no way this tool is going to break. It's just that thick. I slipped my jack handle over one end of it to keep the pulley from spinning and used a breaker bar to twist the bolt. Make sue to slather some never seize on that bolt first, it will make your chore a little easier. After some very hard cranks, I heard a pop and the pulley came off! Thank goodness! This tool is easily worth the $30 or so they're charging for it. ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck, sturdy enough and works well, compact
plenty sturdy for most light duty applications. I've been using it on a motor rebuild project and it makes taking pulleys on and off and setting some alignments much easier. fits alot of car and small truck applications for accessory pulleys
