  • Good for Navigation and Music, Bad for Calls
Microphone is absolutely trash. I reached out to support, and they sent me an external microphone, but I don't think it works. There is no port to plugin external microphones. There is only Aux port at the back, and I have connected the microphone in that port. No one can hear me clearly when I am in a call. Second worst thing is Bluetooth connection. When connected and streaming music if you get a call, you cannot go back to your music after the call ends, especially when you get a WhatsApp call. Bluetooth still thinks the call is running and no matter how many times you press the end button, it will continue the call notification with timer. The only way to get this ended is disconnecting the Bluetooth. Screen is the next worse thing. very poor screen quality. There is screen calibration setting in the option but there is no way to get the screen looking right. I cannot use Maps in day mode because the text as washed out and barely readable, the only way I can see street names is if I use Dark mode on maps. Black background looks dark blue/grey. It has very bad Contrast and brightness and cannot be adjusted to right settings. Touch is responsive and works as expected. It's not perfect and there is a tad delay, but it is tolerable. Sound quality is passable. You have to work through the DSP setting to get the right sound. I have been using Rock DSP and it sounds about right with built in amp. It gets the job done but what good is a modern audio receiver if it cannot handle calls properly. It would be good to have at least a port to connect external microphones. Maybe I will open up the system myself and solder the external microphone directly on the board. -Not recommended for calls -Okay for Maps and Music ... show more

  • Easy install, great price
My factory CD/tape/radio on my 1996 4Runner Limited finally stopped working, and I wanted an inexpensive car radio to replace it. I found a great deal on this Corehan, and couldn’t pass it up, just for the experience of trying. This is a great radio, and it fit right into the 7” x 4” space without any adjustment. The hardest part was finding the right cables and brackets. Luckily, Corehan customer service had already posted the correct harness on the Amazon questions: https://www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1761-Wiring-Harness-Speaker/dp/B0002BEQJ8 Armed with YouTube, the Corehan, the wiring harness and some 18AWG butt crimps from Anchor Electronics, I set out on my install adventure. The best video for opening up the dash is from JP The Install Guy. But JP didn’t tell me to take out the factory amp to plug in my new wiring harness. This confused me because the single connector going into the factory radio doesn’t match the 2 connectors on the wiring harness. The factory amp removal tip came from Provo Beast Audio Installation. I would recommend watching both videos. I found that the factory brackets from my old radio did not fit on the Corehan. Right now, I have some card stock brackets I made just to keep it in there. I have ordered this kit, recommended by Emma at Corehan: https://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-8104-Multi-Toyota-1984-2004/dp/B078JXVWR6 I will see if it fits when it arrives. The other thing about the install I want to mention is that my 4Runner has a retractable antenna, but the radio will keep the antenna up at all times. If you are irritated with your antenna being deployed all the time like I am, you’ll need to put a rocker switch in between the blue wires on the after market harnesses, and run the button into the glove box like I did. In this way, if you want to use the radio (who does that these days?), you can manually deploy the antenna. The other thing I should mention is that I actually have 6 speakers in my car, not 4 speakers. For this radio, I could only connect 4 speakers, and my door tweeters are now disconnected. I will figure out a fix for that later. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this head unit. It does everything I wanted it to do, and it was so inexpensive, it was totally worth the adventure. The touch screen is very responsive. It allows microSD, USB and headphone jack inputs. I can actually play movies from the microSD card. That is super cool for my daughter on long trips. Every time she gets in the car now, she is navigating the Corehan to find out what else it will do. Since I had to remove the factory audio amp, I have to admit the audio quality (also minus my door tweeters) is not as good as the analog system that was in there. The sound seems more digitized. I’m sure there’s a good fix for that as well, and I look forward to adding on to my system to get those 2 tweeters working and a richer sound. There is a screen on the Corehan where you can mess with the treble and bass settings, so maybe I just have to spend some time with the unit for a richer sound. If you want an inexpensive unit for music, movies and car play, I highly recommend this system. It is very straightforward to install and use, and the customer service is amazing. Emma has responded to all of my inquiries overnight and has been extremely helpful in the process. ... show more

  • Worked, but returned for weird issue
Fits a Scosche install kit, more or less. Very simple install with minimal options to sort through. Wire designations and colors/stripes corresponded perfectly to a Scosche connector to the factory harness. Did need an antenna adapter, in my case. This was very easy to install and set up for a simple, low option, four speaker car. The housing is not deep and has lots of room behind it for wiring. Simple and basic Linux system, not an Android tablet for your dashboard. Touchscreen worked fine and looked nice. Unfortunately I returned it and swapped it for something else due to a strange Bluetooth issue. Music was fine, about half the podcasts I routinely listen to were fine, but the other half of my podcasts experienced about 3-5 seconds of audio cutout once or twice a minute. I tried several things to solve the problem including resets, redownloading the audio files, repairing the Bluetooth, and changing players on the phone. I couldn't replicate the problem on any wired connection or any other Bluetooth device, just this head unit. It was very strange that a different podcast or music file would play fine. YMMV. Assuming you don't have the same issue, this is a very nice middle ground head unit between a touchless "dumb" unit and a full Android unit. ... show more

  • Seamless
Had it for a month, no issues so far. Love how responsive the touch screen is and screen resolution is not bad at all. Easy to install as well. Definitely recommend it for all 01-05 ford models
