  • Dorman Engine Oil Cooler review
I recently purchased the Dorman engine oil cooler for my Chevy Cruz, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. It arrived right on schedule and was well-packaged, ensuring it was in perfect condition. The installation was a breeze, as it fit flawlessly. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable oil cooler. ... show more

  • trash ass part
Gasket melted after installation had to tear back down and use liquid gasket to get it to seal. Like every other part i ordered through amazon it didn't fix the problem just over complicated the issue. See why it was so cheep they made cuts with gasket and o ring which only ran on the vehicle for maybe 5 minutes and completely destroyed both. Don't buy this unless you wanna do the same job 4 or 5 times for it to maybe hold for a few months. ... show more

  • You never know how a Dorman part is going to turn out. This one turned out less than decent.
You never know how a Dorman part is going to turn out. This one turned out less than decent, but still salvageable. Had to finish tapping bolt hole threads and had an unusable oil filter cap. The reason for installing this part is because of an oil leak form the factory cooler and also the threads gave out in the bolt hole for the turbo oil line on the factory cooler. Upon inspection of the new oil cooler I discovered the same bolt hole had threads that were not completely cut nor threaded far enough down. It was bad. But all was well after SEVERAL passes with a tap and lubricant and then a generous amount of flushing and back flushing with brake cleaner. However, you should not have to do that on a new part. Also the oil filter cap that came with it would not properly retain any brand of oil filter. They would fall out. Ended up reusing the factory oil filter cap. Also the black plastic piece inside the turbo oil line passage on the cooler is supposed to stay in place: it is an anti-oil drain back valve and it will get pushed down by the turbo oil line when the line is installed in the cooler. Do not remove it or break it! I would've used OEM brand but the shipping time was too long. If you own a vehicle that uses this cooler then you should sell it asap. Theses engines are some of the worst out there right now. They are good until about 70k miles and then you're endlessly dumping money into them. And don't use aftermarket parts on these engines. I never will again. ... show more

  • poor quality control, not correctly assembled
The oil filter housing came without the black plastic insert at the turbo oil line outlet properly pressed in: it was sticking out about a quarter inch. Had to return for a replacement. Poor quality control on the part of Dorman. I had a similar problem with their oil filter housing and turbo gasket kit, the seals for the oil cooler-to-housing and the housing-to-engine block were both too thin and too short and did not fully seat-seal against the machined surfaces. So I used about $20 of gaskets, seals and o-rings out of the $60 kit. This is the reason I bought the aftermarket housing as at least the seals in it are both thicker and taller than those in the gasket kit and look like they will seat-seal against the machined mounting surface on the engine block. (I didn't remove the oil cooler to check that seal, and am assuming that if the engine block seal is correct in thickness and height, then the oil cooler seal is correct as well). Hopefully the replacement I ordered (actually had to initiate a return and new purchase as Dorman didn't offer a "replace it" option) has has better quality control. I just hope that the no pressure situation from the bad seals didn't damage the engine. Anyone tackling this project know it is quite the PITA and having to do it twice really sucks. A total cluster. ... show more

  • 2017 Buick Encore 1.4L Turbo LUV
Did lots of research on this product and brand for 3 months and then while installing it, I was wondering why I was having a hard time getting it in. I'm a 290 pound guy and I believe I used all my force to push it in and it did not fit in to the engine whatsoever. I spent from the morning till the late afternoon trying. I'm so tired now. I requested a return. I have to be ready for work Monday so I cleaned up and used the red high temp gasket maker and put the old one back in with no fuss. ... show more
