Description

Restore the ease and convenience of a properly functioning vehicle door with Dorman's Door Hinge Roller. By reestablishing the door's detent mechanism, it prevents the door from swinging open unexpectedly and from suddenly blowing shut. Plus, it saves you time, money and labor: replace only the damaged or broken roller, not the entire door hinge assembly.

  • it fits
I was hoping to do it on the truck. But fighting it was a waste of time. Pulled the hinge off and it went quickly.

  • Great alternative to replacing the entire hinge.
Great alternative to replacing the entire hinge. Just did both front doors on my 2007 Suburban. Like many others I replaced them while the door was still on. Quick and dirty installation instructions with door attached to vehicle... Use a large screwdriver or prybar to po the spring out, you will figure it out. Used a sawzall to cut the old pins, wound up having to cut them in two places to facilitate removal. Pre-greased the pin with "red grease". Inserted new pin from bottom, ensure bearing goes on pin with lip on bottom. Hold pin with needle nose pliers in one hand and tap upwards with hammer. Once pin begins to seat you do not need pliers. Tap until pin looks to be seated against bottom of hinge. Remove 1st 13 mm bolt this give access to top of new hinge pin to install retaining nut with socket... I had to use 1/4" drive with extension to give ratchet room to function. The nut took a 7/16" socket 1/4" drive socket. You do not have to "uggga-dugga" this, in fact you don't want to over tighten any of the bolts in this process, look up manufacturer's specs if you want exact trq. Install 13 mm bolt and tighten. Now in order to reinstall the spring I had to remove the two 10mm bolts. Once you get the spring installed, install the 10mm bolts back into the hinge. On one I was able to get the spring tool to get the spring mostly seated then a used a pry bar to get it to fully seat on the upsets that hold the spring. On the other, I may have opened a portal to an alternate dimension with the curses, grunts, blood, smashed fingers, bruised knuckles, sweat, and tears I shed. I think by shear determination after about an hour and a half I managed to get it mostly seated and was able to gently tap it in to place with a hammer... I honestly think this has more to do with the individual spring as the more problematic one had more of "bow in it. Good luck. Personally I am very satisfied with this product and the lack of the horrible screeching and groaning that my vehicle made before when the front doors were opened. ... show more

  • Fixed creaky door on my 07 new body Silverado.
Cut out the worn out factory garbage, install kit, wrestle the spring back into place and grease the piss out of it.. finally a smooth, silent door on my sad old truck.

  • If you don't keep grease can wear groove in brass
Just installed my second one in driver door of my 07 duramax. After first install second install was a breeze. Liked that I can install without removing door.

  • Pin/Roller Perfect! Spring Compressor useless on ‘12 Tahoe
The thru bolt on the spring compressor prevents the tool from fitting far enough into the hinge assembly on 2012 Tahoe to actually engage the spring to compress it for removal or reinstalling. The pin/roller was perfect fit and works great. Recommend buying pin without the compression tool of avail.

  • Finally rid of the squeaky grinding door
If you have a Chevy or GM truck with the squeaky/grinding roller bearing this will fix it. Can be done without removing the door, just a bit more annoying that way. Went in fine and you can't hear my doors open from 3 houses away anymore.

  • Fantastic!!
What a jerk to get the old one out, but once you do it’s easy street! This kit works fantastically! Makes install a breeze! Just have to be smart about it.

  • You don't have to remove hinge from vehicle
Spring tool is useless. You do not have to remove hinge from vehicle. took me 20 minutes to change without using spring compressor. I used pry bar to push lever with spring back and inserted a socket the right size between the lever and truck body to hold lever out of the way. I ground down tip of old pin with Dremel and knocked it out with punch. inserted new pin VERY EASY! love this pin kit. then pried spring lever back and took out socket. DONE. i still would recommend this kit. But if they only made it without spring compressor which is useless. gave it 4 stars only because the new pin assembly is the great. ... show more
