I couldn’t be more satisfied with our steel plate DONOW smith machine! It arrived late in the afternoon and my wife and I took our time assembling it, while following along the 20 minute video. It was completed by the next morning. The quality of every piece is excellent and it arrived in perfect condition due to the outstanding packaging. The cable system is super smooth and quiet. This is an excellent home smith machine gym. The overall quality is 7.5/10 vs. commercial gyms. It’s not quite as smooth and heavy duty, but exceeds home gym standards. Very impressive machine. I scheduled install through Thumbtack. The day of installation, the guys show up, look at all the pieces and said it would take them two days and twice the price. I decided to tackle it myself. I had unboxed everything to prep the area for the installers and I wasn’t prepared to leave it all there all weekend. So starting on Saturday afternoon, I built this beast by myself. I finished 85% by 10:00pm. So 8.5 hours. Sunday, started at 8:00 and finished by 10:00. So 10.5 total hours. It went together well with the help of the video. Super happy with how it went. The hardest part was the final piece. The pull up bar. Don’t tighten the vertical posts until you fit the bar in place. You’ll need a second person to get it in place. The pulleys are a little complicated, but not difficult. Very well engineered. The one major issue was the weight plates. I ordered steel. They come in four small boxes. So over 75lbs. per box. Two of four were damaged. Customer service sent out new boxes, but they should be separated into less weight per box with better padding. I couldn’t wait for new plates, so I spray painted the damaged plates and they turned out fine. Customer service gave me a small discount. Overall, extremely satisfied. Has all features of much more expensive weight lifting systems at a very reasonable cost. One last tip. They give you exactly the number of nuts, bolts and parts needed to complete install. Don’t lose any parts. The only extras were washers which I probably forgot to install somewhere. ... show more

This is a good machine. I like that the pulley ratio is 1 to 1. The steel weight plates slide easily and smoothly. It was easy to assemble. The instructions were very easy to follow. The price was very reasonable and the machine suits my needs perfectly. The smith bar glides smoothly on the guide rods. It is a strong frame. The only issues I have are that I can't install a regular olympic bar in the smith brackets and it really needs another weight storage bar on each side of the main frame. Instructions are very poor. We had to back track several times. Need two persons to assemble. Room needs to be big enough to assemble the weight bar assembly. Seat is not solid, we had to place 2 washers on the seat post to stop it from tilting when lifting weights as a lat pull down seated. Just put up and every thing seems pretty nice besides I could not find the stickers to weights and the main bar end pieces that weights will stack on mine is where the weights won’t push all the way back. One side of the weights catch going down I’m thinking just needs some lube. Was very easy to put together with out watching videos. Would had 5 stars for sure if was not for the plastic end pieces for the weights looks deformed. Having the stickers would been great Up date on stickers they sending new out and got back to me very fast and had problem with other item and they took care of it. I got to say I hope they start coming out with a lot more I will for sure buy thanks to the great servise ... show more
